appointment with psychiatrist

Sorry for being the billionth person to post this question, but I'm going to see a psychiatrist for the first time about me being depressed but I'm really worried. I'm 16, and so does that mean if I tell them about my SI, they will tell my parents? I REALLY don't want my parents to know. And I just want to know what to expect and what's gonna happen...I'm really scared :S

You tell me everything's all right
As though it's something you've been through
You think this torment is romantic
Well it's not, except to you

I don't know about Canada, but here yes, they would tell your parents.

Usually at the first meeting the psychiatrist asks you questions, gets to know you, listens to your symptoms.

I hope all goes well.

I'm not sure that they would tell your parents. To break confidientiality (in the UK) the patient has to be in real danger of significant harm. If you told him you were going to kill yourself, he'd tell your parents, but generally for self harm they dont straight away. They like to keep an eye on it.

For your first appointment he will ask you questions about what problems you are currently experiencing so he can get to know you better.

Isn’t it funny how day by day nothing changes but when you look back, everything is different…

you once called your brain a hard drive, well say hello to the virus.

Seeing as your are 16 I guess it would depend on if they thought you were a serious risk to yourself from self harming. Tbh I do doubt the psych would tell your parents. I went to the doctors when I was 15 for depression, they knew I SIed and never told my dad.

See I cannot feel this, not matter how you try and in the real world, there's no goodbyes.

Stare at the hands, you know you want to ;).
