Changing thread titles
Hi All,
I am testing the editing of thread titles to try and resolve this issue.
The original title of this thread was Test Title, as you can see once changed it is not - therefore I can get a normal basic registered member to edit a thread title just fine. You are all also Registered members and have the same permissions, so I am a little stumped!
If someone who doesnt mind can give me their password I will quickly nip in and see what the problem is - someone who hasn't been able to before
Thanks!
Harley

H, when I followed your instructions on the other thread I could do it fine.
If you want my password to have a play then PM me.

So Chels you can in fact edit these thread titles?
If so I don't need to test - I want someone who so far is unable to.
Thanks - odd others can't if you can?

Yeah I can - I went and re-tested with another thread.
I will go try with one that other people have replied to, or would that not be a factor?

Harley, it won't let me do it on the Journal buddies thread, which i'm guessing is because someone has replied to it?
I used the same method i've used to do it for the others.

Hmm, yes that could be the factor.
not very useful is it!
Damn it, test some more and let me know - but again core forum functionality is a real sod to work out and modify

It isn't forum based though in any way?
Thats really what I want to check.
It does seem that threads that have been replied to by someone else cannot have their title changed unless it is requested by a Mod (which is dead simple with the post reporting but still) - not ideal, I will see what I can do but no promises.

Yep I think he meant not board specific (as in, works in R/V but not elsewhere, for example) which is the info you've already given just now.
I'm helpful. :)

I have looked at the manual for the forum and it seems clear that members cannot edit thread titles (didnt mention until someone else posts) - which I feel is a real annoyance. Members will have to report the thread and request a title change instead of doing it themslves. When members can delete their own posts that really does seem silly.
Looking at it I also doubt very much I will be able to do anything about it, nobody seems to have succeeded

Right - I have been playing
It works off a time limit, after which the thread starter cannot change the title (seems a bit silly to me)
Anyway I have now disabled that time limit so you should now all be able to edit the titles of your own threads
Yay!

Thanks Harley.
