Needing to concentrate wanting help doing so
I'm doing an OU course and I find it so hard to concentrate as my head keeps listening to the nonsence it keeps saying and also the thoughts of self harm. I need to concentrate.
Has anyone got any advice or thinks that help them concentrate.
Thanks in advance

I don't think I have much good advice, because I'm in pretty much the same situation, trying to do an OU course while my mind is all over the freaking place. I just try and wait for the quiet periods and snatch teh opportunity to get something done. What course are you doing? x

i generally work with background noise - music normally. what i find is if i listen to quieter music that i know pretty well then its eaier to block it out and focus on the work - if that makes sense?
i dont know what else i can suggest. Well done on taking the OU course! it'll be worth it :)

Ooh you're doing a proper subject. I'm doing 'The Arts Past and Present' right now, to hopefully end up with a BA in something or other. As you can see I'm nt too sure of my direction riht now.
I totally agree with Drampty, music usually helps me concentrate too. Silence is too scary to get work done in. x

Scabette:- I can work listening to classical but that's all, words distract me. I'm used to doing natural sciences so this a new thing for me and I'm very nervous about it, especially when i'm going from crisis to crisis, but hopefully it will give me something to feel good about.
Good luck with your studies

I usually try going for a jog or cleaning my room. It sort of wakes my body up physically so that then I can sit down and get the homework I need to get done finished.

i know how you feel with lacking concentration but wanting it so badly
i take philosophy so i have a lot of reading, but i find that if i read a couple of pages then let my mind wander and do something like tidy my room/cook/watch tv etc for a little bit, then go back to reading a few pages and so on
i hope that makes some kind of sense.
