Policing - it's more stressful behind a desk

Made a Freedom of Information request to the local police (Norfolk Constabulary, Norwich, UK).

Asked them about the rate of incidence of mental health problems among its staff.

From what they sent back, it seems 'Staff' have more problems that 'Police officers'. (Am assuming 'staff' (of order of 1500) are more 'desk-jobs' than 'police officers').

Does this sound right?

JJ.

(FOI requests generally free of charge) :)

I think that might be what they meant, are you hoping to have a job in policing at some point? Take care. xxx

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

I am currently:

I think there's an overlap between police "officers" and "staff".
My dad's in the police, and he's been off many times with stress and depression, have had a LOT of the people he works with (he's not a police officer in the sense he's out on the street in his uniform, he's a detective, anyway...) but he still comes under staff, as well as police officer.

I'm not saying the figures are wrong, but from what I've learnt at uni (I'm doing criminology and one of my modules last year was on the police) is that there's a LOT of overlap in the information they give you, there's a lot of hidden figures and there's a lot they just don't give you.

If you're interested in working for the police, I'd be happy to help you if you want, a lot of my family are in the police, and I've looked into a lot of jobs when I finish uni and for work placements and stuff, so yeah.
