Random Quote

Hello!

Dunno if this is in the right forum, but in the random quotes bit, this:

"Sometimes we put up walls. Not to keep people out, but to see who cares enough to knock them down."

is credited to 'Post Secret'. In actual fact, although a postcard with this written on did indeed appear on said website, the quote is actually a line from Chuck Palahniuk's 'Invisible Monsters'. I can't remember which character writes it, but in a scene not dissimilar to Post Secret itself, the three main characters are writing their secrets on postcards and throwing them from the Space Needle in Seattle.

Just thought I'd point this out :)

Does anyone else feel that posting that on Post Secret is in slight betrayal of the website's point? It's supposed to be a community where people can anonymously speak their innermost feelings without fear of humiliation or judgement. Stealing a line from a book just so you can get on the site is a bit low, for me... Which is why I posted this thread in the first place. It made me cringe to see it mis-credited.

Did you ever read the message that went with the postcard? When i saw it posted on the site it had a message below that was attached, it was from a teacher and it said something like: "to all my students, i promise i will break down those walls and be there for you when you need me"
I dont think it was intended as someone taking credit or trying to get onto the website, its my secret too...infact thats what i love about post secret, so many of those secrets are mine, that i never had the courage to send.
that quote means so much to me, and those walls ive put up have backfired so many times, [yep, its my signiture aswell!]
I just wondered if you knew about the note that came with it?
