As some of you may know i was recnelty diagnosed with osteoporosis caused by my eating disorder... and concidering i am a walking accident prone wolly this was veeeery concerning news.
Anway i saw a specialist a fortnight ago who basically gave me some calcium and other stuff but didnt know what else she could do because i am so young and my osteoporosis is apparently 'complex'.
SO off i go thinking im gona have to be careful, hope for the best and just kind of get on with it. Chances are until im a 'normal' weight it can even carry on getting worse. however today i had some contact from the lovely specialist i saw saying after i left she did a big of looking and found out there is a even more specialised specialist a couple of hours drive from me in Oswestry who deals with 'complex cases of osteoporosis' so i'm being sent to see him (The NHS actualy do something positive woo)
Anyway girls (an guys?) as you can see having osteoporosis isnt fun. i'm 22 and facing the prospect of being in a wheelchair at an early age... i'v even already in the month iv known spent 2 days sat in hospitals coz i had minor falls and had to get my spine checked just in case...
so pleeeeeeeease concider this when your starving and depriving, binging and purging etc.... your bodies will not thank you for this in the future.
I am the girl that always thought 'thats never going to happen to me'...an here i am its happened

Im in a very similar situation, and have been told that i cant consider various careers i had in the past, eg physiotherapy and other physically demanding jobs. it is upsetting, to be told so young (im 20) that i am basically faced with wheelchair use at an early age. I have seen specialists as well, have some tablets that stop bone breakdown, bisphosphonates, are you on those? They are weird, your told to stay upright for 30 mins after taking it! it is a bit weird...that part i think, wen its for ur bones! but they give bad stomach pain otherwise. so yea, osteoporosis is nasty and i never thought it would happen to me, bet you didnt either, and many people reading wont either, but hey, it does. x
My cousins all go there, for a genetic thing we have ( to do with loose ligaments and tendons)
They say it'sa really nice place.
But I hope it goes really well.
Keep us posted.

i always think "oh it wont happen to me" "im too young"
unfortunatly now i know the true reality that im not too young and it does happen as it has happened to you. im so sorry sweetie. please take care xx
I meant orthopaedic as in people who know about bones. I presumed theyd be good with osteoporosis too.
Kel, when my ex needed surgery on his knee there was only a few places in the country that could do it because it was a relatively knew procedure, but that place was one of them. (he went to warrington in the end because it was closer for him.) And my Grandad used to go there for his arthritis and that was over 16yrs ago so they must have lots of experience
