Hey,
Just wondering if anyone else here is on medication for their depression or other mental illness? What are you on and do you find it helps?
I'm currently on Amitriptyline, I have been on it for about 3 and a half months now, it kind of works there are little things it has helped with like my sleep, although it seems after being on the same dosage for a few weeks I no longer feel the benefits, I told my doctor this but she doesnt want to up the dose anymore but I am still taking it.

I'm on mirtazapine, for depression, anxiety and PTSD. It helps me sleep, and takes the edge off the feelings of rawness and vulnerability. It gives me a bit of space between myself and the feelings. I am more positive than I was before being on it, although that's mostly due to intense therapy.
I've been on mirtazpine since October 2005. I was on efexor for a year before that. It wasn't much help.
I'm on Sertraline for Depression and OCD and have been since Jan 2005, I've found this helps me loads. I was on Olanzapine for Psychosis but it wasn't working and I was putting a lot of weight on with it so now I am on Amisulpride for it. I find it helps a lot also.
Hey im on fluoxetine hydrochloride (Prozac), for manic depressive and BPD. Ive been on it since the begining of the year, I do some days think that its working and others its not. And of late i dont think it has been working.
I was on fluoxetine for depression. Then they stopped that and now they put me on venlafaxine and I think my psychiatrist wants to increase the dose cos Im a tricky customer. I hate them! ( the meds, not the psy!)
I've been on numerous meds, But lately floxetine, although I didn't get on with them and for the last six months paroxetine (seroxat) and although that sounds like a really scary drug (there was an issue with it a few years back) I think it helps me quiet alot.
Life can be beautiful if you let it.
Step back, breathe and take it in
Hey!
I´m on Sertraline to cope with my OCD and depression.
Firstly, I was feeling better, it seemed to be helping me, but right now, I don´t really feel any benefit any longer...

I'm on my third med now, still with no luck. At the moment i'm on citalopram and have been since the beginning of the year, before then I've had fluoxetine and sertraline, all for depression and a borderline ED. none of which have worked but apparently as I'm under 18 I'm very limited in what they are allowed to prescribe me.
I started taking escitalopram for generalized anxiety disorder a year ago, but then i started getting depressed. I'm not sure if the medicine caused it or not. I'm still taking it, but when I get home in three weeks, I'm going to ask my doctor to switch me to something else.
The one you love and the one who loves you are never, ever the same person.
i have been on sertraline and citalopram for depression which didn't work, and i've been on amisulpiride and am currently on risperidone for psychosis but its not working

Im on that same thing... but Im on it for severe anxiety, hallucination, and depression. It helps me sleep. it does sort of the same thing with me, sometimes it does work, and other times it really does nothing for me... im a little confused and debating on whether to tell somebody now or wait and see if it gets better.
Prozac for the depression has helped quite a bit. The first time I was put on it, I got extremely suicidal. I also tried to committ suicide several times connected with it. However, I perservered and it seems to be helping. It's not as good for my OCD as Sertraline was, but I got horrible side-effects from Sertraline. I'm on a small dose of Risperidone for general anxiety and it had a mood stabilising effect. The new medication I'm on for Bipolar, Depakote, has helped me the most out of all the medications I've ever taken.
I'm thinking of telling my doctor I want to come off the Amitriptyline, all it seems to be doing is making my drowsy, thirtsy and dizzy everytime I get up. I am not noticing any positive outcomes at all.

I've been on quite a few different anti-depressants [fluoxetine, amitriptyline, mirtazapine, sertraline and citalopram] - I didn't really notice much difference except on the citalopram, I had quite a nasty reaction to that. I've been on Olanzapine as a mood stabiliser, I found that really beneficial but have been taken off it but hopefully will be put back on it soon.
I've got various medication as well for really bad days and to help me sleep [zopiclone].
