Eurovision!

So its that time of the year again, and this year its a full-week extravaganza., with two semi-finals on Tuesday and Thursday and then the big final on Saturday.

I know that for most people Eurovision is just tuning in for Terry Wogans musings while mocking all the outfits, but I've really got into it this year (yes I have no life). Just wondered if anyone else was into it and had some opinions on who will win it.

I'd say Russia have the best chance. I'm a huge Dima Bilan fan thanks to his success at the contest in 2006, and think that he has a lot of fans in the east that will vote for him. However, my favourite song and performance is a tough call. A week ago I would have said my favourites were Iceland, but Ukraine's been growing on me a lot, and Sweden is pretty good. Loved Switzerland from the minute I heard it. Oh, and of course I'm supporting Belarus again - I mean, Ruslan is just a replica of last years best entrant, Dima Koldun.

Anyway, I ramble. If anyone wants to know anything about the contest this year, feel free to ask. Just wondering about people's opinion and to spread some eurovision awareness, hehe.

I'll probably watch with my takeaway and alcohol as with every year if i'm in (Y)
No idea who's on it.
Don't give a toss.
Just watch for the giggles.

Eurovision's rubbish TV, but good rubbish.
Terry Wogan is the best bit, alongside trashy food, drink and random bits of hilarity throughout the programme.
Oh, it's rubbish, but oh so enjoyable.
I don't care where we come, who's in it, and who wins. Haha.

I've watched it since I was a kid, despite the trashyness and the fixed results and all that garb. It's one tradition of mine that I've kept, something from childhood that's not changed. Yup
I do love Terry =)

Eurovision is the worst thing to happen to the world since.. Hitler.
I'm just pissed because it ****s up regular TV, and that being Doctor Who.

Isn't Terry Wogan banned from certain european countries because of some of the things he's said?
Hah.

Yeah, he upset the Danish a few years ago I think. He didnt realise that his popularity as a commentator meant that people across europe tune into the BBC broadcast. He insulted the Danish presenters or summit like that, and had to apologise. Don't think he's banned from the country though.

Wikipedia says that he jokes that he is now banned from visiting Denmark, due to some of his comments over the years.

I love eurovision. I like scoring and insulting all of the bands every year.
Plus, Im always waiting eagerly for the next Lordi-style random entry =] that was an amusingly good year.

I may sit down with a drink from every country and enjoy. sounds much better than usual.

I always watch it. I'm having some friends round so we can all laugh at it and do the jokey scorecards you can get off the BBC website.

most likely. I watched the rehersal for it, and he has a good voice, but they've gone really overboard with the pyro's - you cant even see him! (maybe that was the idea - the man really cant dance)
