Mixing two meds - not sure if it's OK???

I got put on Venlafaxine yesterday - I've been on Citalopram and now I'm on Mirtazapine. The idea was to cut down the Mirtazapine and then start on the Venlafaxine. I went to the GP today and they prescribed 15mg Mirtazapine and 75mg Venlafaxine at the same time. I can't remember what the psych said but I don't think he said take both together. The GP who prescribed it asked another GP and they said that was OK...I'm a bit worried though...does anyone know whether this combination is OK?

Obv I'm not a doctor or anything, but I'm pretty sure it's fine to take Venlafaxine and Mirtazapine together.

If you wiki Mirtazapine it says somthing about it's commonly given in combination with Venlafaxine or somthing.
So I'm thinking, it's ok.

I'm on 30mg Mirtazapine after I tried Venlafaxine and Prozac, so far it's the only anti-depressant thats done any good for me. Watch out for the weight gain though!
It can give you a really big appitite.

Yeah it was the weight gain which drove me away from Mirtazapine...it was helping initially then the problems with weight gain started making me more depressed and giving me symptoms of EDs...

I took the first dose of the two last night...I felt a bit sick last night and then felt really nauseous this morning as well as being a bit unsteady on my feet. Feeling a bit more down that usual today tho...probably just the new meds taking effect...hopefully anyway!

I'm coming off mirtazapine completely in a week. Bit scared about the possible withdrawal as it's a fairly powerful drug apparently...I've had withdrawal from illegal drugs before and that's not too fun. Hopefully I'm gonna lose some of the weight I put on...I can't afford to buy a load of new clothes in a bigger size!!

I was on venlafaxine first, and it didn't work, so the psychiatrist put me on mirtazapine [which works well for me.]

For a couple of months I was on both 150mg V. and 30mg M. Then I was gradually withdrawn from efexor, and am now on mirtazapine only.

The psychiatrist told me that the ve. and mir. combo is a standard one for longstanding treatment resistant depression, like I have. It sort of, as I found, boosts you out of the worst.

My point is that it's fine - a few side effects, but that was mainly the culprit of efexor, which really didn't like my body chemistry, at all!

Oh yeah, and no weight gain here...
