My sisters school is. *Nods* But apparently half the teachers aren't doing it... so they have enough teachers to teach 2 school years... so years 7, 8 and 9 get the day off... unfair or what? lol x
~Beauty without intellence, is a materpiece painted on a napkin.~
Apparently it's only specific teacher unions that are going on strike, so not all teachers will be off...which is sort of good just because all year 11's have got their exams coming up, ands year nines I think - in my sisters school i thin kthey're keeping those years in. Gutted on them.
"Be nice. Think happy thoughts. Champion silver linings. Love all things (not just cute things like babies and kittens) & when you do love - love like they do in power ballads (you know like on a cliff with the wind in your hair and your eyes shut, knowing you'll never know love like this). Watch out for dog poo. Smile at people - even grumpy ones. Remember anything is possible & whatever you do always try to look on the bright side."
Our school wasn't off, but a few of my lessons were disrupted.
Out of 3 secondary schools in my town, we were the only school which was not shut.
You have to be part of the NUT to strike today, and plenty aren't, and you don't have to strike even if you are part of the NUT.
The head-teacher decided to keep the school open, and, to be honest, I think that was a pretty good choice. Yeah, a day off school would have been nice, but I want all the lessons I can get with my exams fast approaching.
Year 11 weren't meant to be in until after break but my science teacher wasn't striking and expected us all there first lesson and we all turned up, no teacher second so I did Drama, IT third [which was a joy] "free" fourth, normal 5th. Most of our school day was alright, but a couple of people in year 9 and 10 struggled, as most of their teachers were striking.
I didn't mind too much, meant we got an extra hour to finish our Drama performance, our exam is next week:O
my school did but year 11 && 6th form still had to go in.
which is me.
but i didnt come first lesson.
if i did i would have had head teacher twice that day. arggh
i had here last && she hates me she has her reasons.
but the feeling mutual.
I HATE COVER TEACHERS!
'Cause I'll always remember you the same.
Oh eyes like wild flowers within demons of change ♥
It's only teachers in the NUT that are striking. In my school 40 teachers are members but I think 30 of the went on strike. Only had one lesson messed up but years 7,8 and 9 got teh day off. Grr *kick* 10,11+6th form had to go in (which includes me). Though I went round to my boyfs house who's mum had given him the day off for first period cos I cba with PE :)
See I cannot feel this, not matter how you try and in the real world, there's no goodbyes.
My school remained open only for Year 11, 12 and 13, because of our exams coming up very soon, which I think is very thoughtful of them. And anyway, my teachers are all heads of their departments so you know. Ka-Ching and all that, they never strike.
