How gratifying for once to know

And they've even named motorbikes after him in the States ...
But, just for the record, he was named after his great-uncle who was killed in North Africa in WW2. And the great-uncle was named after Robert Harley, Earl of Oxford, about whom we've got a book somewhere (which I must research sometime.)
Does Harley even like "Harley's"? I saw him on a bike in the documentary so I assume he's likes motorcycles. I never liked Harleys myself (I dont ride though) just from looking at them or listening to them (though the Harley fans say they are safer because of the racket they make - that is because they alert people in cars). But I don't like looks/configuration of Japanese bikes either. If I were to get one I like Ducati so far.
I think Harley on a Harley would be a bit too much - so I wouldnt ever own one, though it is a dream of mine to tour across the states on one, that would scratch that itch nicely.
Yeah I like bikes, not obsessed or anything. I have an old trials bike that I ride off road, and I would like to get a sports bike for summer - but I am currently being banned from all these people who say they'd care if I got squished...boring :P
But yeah, i've had the "Is your surname Davidson then" joke way too many times to still find any novelty in Harley's. Though i've heard they are a great ride...

hahaha
i used to work in a motorcycle gear store and the review i heard was that Harleys, and cruisers in general, actually aren't that comfortable for long-distance touring and stuff because of the position you are in sitting on them, with your arms straight out and everything
but still i think that you absolutely must go on a motorcycle tour in the states and drive around Harleysville, Pennsylvania on a Harley Davidson motorcycle because that is just way too perfect to pass up

what - like me, you mean? I told you off the minute I saw you come off that bike. I hope it is still chained up ;p

I came close to getting a motorcycle but we have thousands of deer here now that jump out into the roads all hours of day or night. They got 2 riders last year. The Harley riders seem to have a lot less accidents at least.
We have the deer problem here in UK too, believe it or not. Muntjac right in suburban gardens, roe in the surrounding fields - and both a hazard on the road.
And, driving north overnight in Scotland the red deer come down onto the roads in winter and they're on legs of just the right height to ensure that they'll come up the bonnet (hood) and through your windscreen. So, on Rannoch Moor at 3 in the morning, the message is to go slowly!
