Thanks. But I'm a little confused. If adolescents will not be placed in adult psychiatric wards, where will they go in the time before they are placed in an appropriate unit during a crisis? I was told once you are over 16 you cannot be put in a childrens general ward and have to go to an adult psychiatric ward during a crisis. How will this change?

xxxx

I thought....if you're 16+ and NOT in full-time education, you can be placed in an adult ward. I could be wrong.

My friend, who was 17 at the time, was sent to an adolescent psych ward in a loca hospital before being sent to a specialised longer term adolescent psych unit.

im a little perplexed as to why they included "right to displace nearest relative" as a new right, when it was infact already possible to displace under the mh act 1983.....

I'm 17 and in full time education and I'm in an adult ward.

I live in Liverpool and as far as I know they have childrens wards
up to the age of 16 and adult wards (supposedly) 18+.

Because I'm 17 I went to the adult ward, I was on a 1-to-1 for 4 weeks
(basically you have to be within eyesight of staff 24 hours a day, horrible!)
But because of my age I'm considered vunerable here.
