HELP, Mental Health Legislation and individual needs

Sorry im going to write this in bullet points to make it clearer.
  • I started DBT a year ago in the private sector
  • After a change of therapist after 5 months, things started to improve for the first time in 7 years which i have had different therapies, inpatient stays etc..
  • PCT had agreed to fund
  • I moved to CMHT from CAMHS during this time ( who are un supportive )
  • Recently the PCT wanted to review the funding
  • My DBT therapist who knows me has recomened that i continue treatment, and CMHT have refused to comment.
  • So the PCT said i had to go and see a Cosultant Pychotherapist within the NHS trust
  • The consultant pychotherapist, Didnt know me. Only had a few bits of papers on me, though the PCT and CMHT thought she could assess me.
  • I went though, hoping i would be listended to
  • I put forward my valid points about it being cost effective, that i had improved but still needed to work on stuff in order for the therapy to be effective and long lasting and that change would be effective.
  • But she didnt listen and just kept on saying that was an outreach service within the NHS
  • And for an assesemnt that could effect the rest of my life, it was thirty minuets.
So im guessing as they are going to listen to her and the funding wil be discontinued. I know that if i dont get this help i will lose the plot and go back to square one.

I know their are things like the care standards act and legislation with individual needs.

Is thier anyway i can get what i want as a "sevice user" across to the PCT. Or to anyone relavent. Or any legisation or laws that can protect me.

Please help i dont know what do,
Thanks
B X

I think you need to find out the name of someone in charge of all the mental health services. Then write it all out in a letter as clearly as you can, making sure you cover all your points.
Patients Advice and Liason Service (PALS) might be able to help you, they operate everywhere in the uk and are there to support patients to get the best treatment.
It could be quite drawn out tho, i don't know of a way to qickly fix this so you can continue seeing your therapist.
Hope this helps, let me know if you need any help xxxx

Mind also provide an advocacy service which might be able to help you.
