Triggering (SI) - Do rubber bands count?
So I'm trying to stop SIing (two weeks free!) but I still use rubber bands. I've kinda always used them even when I did still cut. I know that it's technically hurting yourself but is it really SI? Opinions?

You still are kind of hurting yourself with the rubber band. But its not as dangerous as other forms of SI. Its an alternative, but with the rubber band there is still the mindset of hurting yourself.
And well done on two weeks =]

It depends on the reason behind it. If you're doing it to hurt yourself, then yes, it is SI. If you're doing it to distract yourself (I snap hairbands against my wrist absent mindendly) then it's not really.
Either way, it's "better" than a lot of other forms of SI, and eventually you'll be able to manage without the elastic bands.
Congratulations on the two weeks, and keep up the good work :)

I see it as a baby step to being completely free from any form of SI. While it isn't as serious/dangerous as cutting or burning, it's still harming in a way. But, as emo_queen_crabbit (sorry, I don't know your real name!) said, eventually you'll be able to go without the rubber band.
*hugs*
Congrats on your two weeks free!

Oh wow well done on 2 weeks free!! I just reached the same point and tonight i find out my 'friend' has invited everyone out tomoro night and not me. Which is a bit harsh since she invited my boyfriend and i ended up pinging myself with a band so that i wouldnt cut myself. So while i suppose it is a form of SI i dont think it is the same cos for me i was doing it so that I didn't slip rather than doing it for the pain.
Dunno if that helps? Take care

2 weeks is brill hun :)
I think so.. but you're not cutting, so its a "little" better. You need to change the thoughts of wanting to hurt yourself hun, not change SI methods!
well done though xxx
