Please Keep My Kelly In Your Thoughts!!!!*UPDATE*

im really beside myself right now.
yesterday, Kelly noticed a bite on the back of her thigh. it was about as big as a strawberry and it itched. also, it was really swollen. i figured it was a spider bite. i begged her to go to the ER....but shes stubborn and told me to wait and see.

so this morning, we get up......and her whole hip is swollen, the bite mark has a big black spot in the middle and its eating her skin. its really sore.

im keeping Kaleb(her son) and she has taken herself to the ER. she also has broken out in a rash on her hands and basically is hurting all over.

im pretty sure shes been bitten by a brown recluse and im really worried.
i wish i could have gone with her but we didnt want to take Kaleb because hes been sick recently. but her Dad came home soon after she left(he lives next door). i told him about Kelly....and he came and got Kaleb!!!!

i told him that he didnt have to but i think her parents are afraid that if we do have brown recluses...they want to have the house sprayed so he doesnt get bitten.

anyhow....please keep Kelly in your thoughts.
i know im probably over reacting....but she is my world and i love her so much.
thank you.
xxxxxxxxxx

thank you so much.
actually, a brown recluse is a spider.
but its poisonous and can cause lots of damage.

she is already home and has antibiotics and pain meds.
they said it could get worse or better. if it gets worse...we have to go back to the ER.

there have been cases where people's limbs have had to be removed from brown recluse bites. i can tell shes in pain and it kills me.

Rachel, I'll certainly keep Kelly in my thoughts/prayers.

I think you might want to phone a couple of extermination companies to see if the spiders can be killed. I've heard that they can survive termite tenting.

How is Kelly now? How is Kaleb doing with his mom so sick? How are you?

*sends you a hug and because she is afraid of hurting Kelly, blows her a kiss*

My husband is my best friend.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

thank you guys so much.

Kelly is really sore and hurting. we are keeping ice on the bite for 10 minutes at a time. i think we will go to her gp on monday because she will need to be monitored. i know that brown recluse bites can get very nasty.

shes also having an allergic reaction to it with a rash on her hands and they are so swollen that she had to take her wedding ring off for a bit :(. and she's having stomach cramps and nausea. i feel so bad for her.

Kaleb is next door at her parents for the day. he might spend the night just to be safe. we are getting the house sprayed as soon as we find a pest control open. its the weekend, so it will probably be monday.

thank you all for your thoughts and prayers.
love to all.

GO BACK to the EMERGENCY ROOM

If Kelly is having that kind of reaction and swelling it could very possibly affect her breathing. Unless the doc told her to expect those side effects, her reactions are reason for ALARM. Please go back to the ER before her throat closes up.

Btw, a 2 liter soda bottle filled with water and frozen overnight makes a good ice pack.

I'm not shouting to be mean or anything. I'm very worried about Kelly and you. How is she this morning? How are you?

You are both in my prayers.

*gives you both hugs*

thank you everyone...

Kelly is in alot of pain. the swelling is normal from what theyve told us.
shes taking the antibiotics and pain meds and keeping the ice pack on for 10 min at a time.

the bite itself is blistering and has turned black. ive read all about the necrosis that the bite can cause. and ive also seen it firsthand as my brother had a recluse bite a few years back.

it may take up to 6 weeks to fully heal.

the worst part is im STILL having flashbacks and trying help Kelly at the same time. and then she tries to help me. we both are really hurting and need a full time nurse right now!!!!!i feel so guilty for not being able to help her more.

please keep us in your thoughts.
love to all.

oh wow necrosis of the tissue is intense
poor kelly!!!!
i'm getting worried for her vicariously through you now. since this sounds so severe, maybe you can just call at least and check in with her doctor, update them sort of to make sure that she is okay and that this is progressing as expected?

i'm sorry to hear about your flashbacks rach
maybe if you do something really relaxing, pamper yourself and kelly, you will feel better?
i'm not surprised that they are increasing in frequency because i think anxiety can do that and obviously with kelly so ill this is an anxious time!!! try to relax and be as calm as possible. light candles and things and play nice music and watch lovely movies and stuff

i hope you both get well soon!!!

MRSA infections are often thought to be spider bites:

thanks for the link. i read up on it and will be sure to ask them to get a culture.....but we know that we have spiders in the house....plus we live in southeastern US which is common for the recluse. we are having our house sprayed tomorrow while we are out. but it could be staff still. the docs will have to do tests.
thanks again.

she is, as are you my luv..pls keep us posted
we lived in the okanagan for 6 years [3 penticton, 3 oliver]
the one house in pent. was on the upper bench of the hill...then a gulley, then a higher 'bench'
[hope that made sense] well the house above ours dug outr for a swimming pool and disturbered 100'2 [1000's] of black widows...so of course thety went looking for new homes...the bench we wetre on became uinfested...we had to search our daughter room nioghtly....tke apart the bed, the toy bopx, check every item in the ckloset..EVERY NITE till we could figure out what to do...since the exterminatots happily saw a 'money grab' opp and were ridicuolouslty high
well or neighbors had had similar before anf they zspayed 4 times a years
the whole outer foundation of the house with DIAZANON..no more spiders...we did too and no more for us either..well the odd one, but i was too scared to touch/squish them so i discovered WD40 turns them to instant pudding [eeeeewwwwww]
now so far as i know diazanon is banned but im not %100 on that...check out a plant/nursery and see what they say
my thouthbs are with you both

thank you romp....i cant believe you had to live with black widows!!!! *shivers*

UPDATE:
Kelly apparently has an extreme case of cellulitis caused by the recluse bite.
the antibiotics have not helped at all and her doc has referred her to a surgeon. we go tomorrow to see if he will need to drain the abcess. its about the size of a baseball mitt. thats the best thing i could think to describe it as.

i reckon she's going to be ok. i hope they go ahead and drain it though because it looks horrid and i know it must feel horrid too. HOWEVER...she got morphine!!!! yep...she sure did. i hope it kills ALL the pain because she has been taking hydrocodone and oxycodone and it has not even touched the pain...so this better work!!!!! im ready for her to have some freaking relief!!!!
thank you all for your support.
it means so much to us.
Kelly also sends her love.
