I'm doing a 62 mile (100km) trek to raise money for Oxfam and the Gurkha Welfare Trust - both of which share a purpose to put an end to poverty, and help poor people improve their lives.
This trek is known as Trailwalker UK, and is the ultimate team event. Trailwalker is both a mental and physical challenge, both on the day, and in the months running up to the event, as training is required.
In the words of Oxfam - "Four people, one goal, 100 kilometres, 30 hours,19-20 July 2008. Sometimes you get the chance to achieve something really great. Trailwalker is one of those chances. It's a 100 km trek for teams of four to complete in under 30 hours. It is a challenging journey, that will change lives"
62 miles is two and a half marathons, with an ascent equivalent to that Ben Nevis, and the terrain is often rough. The trek has a time limit of 30 hours, and if we walk a normal speed of 3mph - that 24 hours of walking, so with time aside to eat and tend to my blisters that leaves no time at all for sleeping!!
We are aiming to raise £2000, so please if anyone can spare even the tiniest amount, that would really help.
Thankyou Thankyou Thankyou
