Um, I'm not sure if this is allowed, and if it's not, then well..delete it please. This is not meant to be harmful to this website, and I'm definitely not giving out the web address of the forum I'm describing, as to not try and stir up trouble/move members away from RYL.
Anyway, I'm quite an old member of a support site for teenagers and young adults, and a while ago there was an idea put forward, and then put into the early stages by the forum adminstrator, as to give members a journal to record their day or whatever. He eventually got rid of this, and decided not to have journals. I loved the idea, and after I found out the admin had decided against implicating journals to the site, started a campaign for him to at least think about introducing them. I've now realised the vast amount of features on that website that deter from the core idea to suppot teenagers that never even get used could be rid of and replaced with a journal system, which by the amount of members that have blogging sites and such, wouldn't be such a bad idea.
I was wondering what your thoughts were on RYL in relation to a support forum, and whether you believe they're useful, especially for emotions and whatnot.
Again, no harm meant. I hold RYL in high esteem, although I hardly ever use it.
Thanks.
Vicky.
Excuse me sir, but I had plans to die tonight
Oh, and you're directly in my way, and I bet you're gonna say it's not right.

You see the trick is that you're never supposed to act on it
No matter how unbearable this misery gets.
I've only used it once or twice, but I don't really care because I have a journal or blog on xanga. It's a friends/networking/blogging site.
I'm sure these journals are really useful to the people who are currently using them, and they could be useful to other people. Don't get me wrong I LOVE RYL, and I use all the forums, just not the journals.
Hmmm.. I agree with Aimee... People are sooo greatful if you leave a comment on a journal! They will be thankful or it! So its a good thing to leave comments...
I like having a journal on here. It is a way for me to vent or record what happened in the day without making a whole thread about mememe :P
Also, if you want to see how someone's doing, you can check their journal (assuming they have one) instead of searching through their posts.
Well, I decided to vote for yes, although it was a quite hard decission.
I guess almost nobody reads diaries of others at least I have the impression.
But though I write very often in my journal, although I find it sad sometimes that nobody seems to read it (view counts...only my visits ).
But it helps me to write something there, so
1.) I could later read what happened on certain dates,
2.) I could write in the RYL- boards that more is written in my journal (because the boards can be read by everybody and entries can be find by searching machines) and
3.) because I am too lazy to write in a "normal" diary and well, I am here almost every day, so it is easier for me to go to my diary here and type a few words and
4.) because I can put smilies in and I could not do that in a normal diary because I cannot paint .

I can see how they're useful to others, but I prefer my Livejournal. I've used Livejournal for years so when journals come to RYL I made a few entries and that was it really.
Personally I don't look at the journals but that's more because I mostly don't get enough time to.
It’s not always that easy to distinguish the good guys from the bad guys,
Sinners can surprise you and the same is true for saints.
Why do we try to define people with simply good or simply evil?
Because no one wants to admit that compassion and cruelty can live side by side in one heart and that anyone is capable of anything.
I think they are very useful. Sometimes I feel bad for posting about my problems but by having a journal there is a place to write things down, and I also like to catch up on how things are going for other people as well.
I don't use them, but that's just because I'm addicted to my LJ, and I can't be bothered keeping up with two journals.
But they're good because it gives people a chance to get things out and express themselves even if they don't want to specifically ask for support / hugs on the forum. It also means it's easy to quickly check up on how someone is doing (in an entirely non-stalkerish way, of course!) and leave a comment to cheer them up. :)
