working and SI
Does anyone ever have the urge at work? And if so, what do you do? I can't do it someplace so public. I have an office with a door but what if someone comes in...I can't believe I even think of this. How crazy am I??????

I work in a hospital, around sharp objects all day long, and think about it ALL day long! NOT a good place for me to be. I try distracting myself with stuff I have to get done, and luckily my job involves lots of stuff to do! I also make phone calls, when I steal a second away and get on the computer, I come to this site. Sometimes all of that works, and sometimes...well I need to find some new Ideas.

When I worked in retail I just went to the stock room. Now I work at home and it doesn't matter so long as I hide it from my clients.

My husband is my best friend.
In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

I think about it at work. But I think about everything at work, cause I'm a cleaner and I can just zone out most of the time. I don't do it, cause I don't get urges. But at my old job, only once I wanted to cut so bad that I actually did. But I couldn't use a knife cause I worked in a cafe, and that'd be gross. So I got a [mod edit - tool] and scratched myself on my leg so many times. Felt good after.

Yes sometimes I think about it at work - which is not ideal.
To try to combat it, I do an active task - in my case this involves walking around the office and shop floor to "observe" where the work is in relation to the production schedules.
Also on my desk I keep a soft foam stress ball, which I just sit and squash about, those flexible bendy shapes are also great for this.
In my opinion there is no right or wrong time to think about SI - it is more about how you manage the intrusive thoughts if they come along at an inappropriate time.

*hugs*
as you seem to sit at a desk why not get some desk toys to play with to help distract yourself. i have a megnetic sculpture at home and its just good to fiddle with. also you can get sort type games and various wierd stuff to play with.

we did secret santa at work. and my secret santa, knowing not too much about me, got me a stress ball. I use it but usually I just want to throw it against the wall.
