I need to get a divorce

Despite marriage counseling, I've decided I need to divorce my husband. It's tearing me up though because he says he still loves me. How can I do that to him? But if I don't leave, I will lose myself and be desperately unhappy.

I don't know what I expect anyone to say to help me. Anything would be welcome at this point so I'm not alone with my own thoughts.

why would you help clean me up if i'm the mess you never made?

Ugh, sounds like some hard **** to deal with. I'm sorry you have to go through that...I can't imagine.
All I can offer is that you just have to weigh which option is the least harmful to you. I know you're probably doing this a million times a day, but I hope that you'll be able to come to the most healthy decision for YOUR heart.
*hugs*
Sorry I can't be of much help, but I'm thinking of you!

What a difficult decision. Ouch. No advice.

Hugs.

My husband is my best friend.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

divorce is a big decison and can be a scary one.
you need to do whatever will benefit you the most and make you happy.
if you have tried all you can and there is nothing else to try perhaps its time...try not to give up too soon though.
take care

*Big big hugs*
In some instances divorce is the best option.
If staying in the marriage will leave you desperately unhappy then its best if you go through with it. Although it will be a painful period in your life, it will leave both of you able to go on and find happiness down your own paths.

I think you know deep down what is good for you and sometimes you do have to put yourself first.

Lets hope you can stay friends through this parting.

You have tried marriage counselling, what more can you do to fix it.

Good luck and Im here to hold your hand through it

What I heard first is that you have decided........your intuition and heart know what is right for you. Some couples actually get along better once the decision comes to be. There will always be grief because the union of the two spirits has died, but in its place there could be something more beautiful. It is true that with a loss there will be a gain. You can't see it now because you won't until you get there.
If you think the counseling experience had anything to do with it, try another counselor. Also, I had a roommate who had a mate break up with her, but was "available for processing" and cut off in stages. In my marriage it took some time for me to actually decide to STAY. Even now I have days when it seems like I can't stay in the box any more. I don't know you, but tonight I will pray that clarity and courage come to you.
Don't ever be less of a person. Hold out for the greatness.
