Triggering (Suicide) - only ever seen as an illness - what's the point anymore.

First of all. My apologies to you all.
I haven't been here for you as often as I would like, or that I should have been and that's inexcusable.

For the third time in two years, I have been told that a past in self harm means I cannot teach. Do people just not have hearts anymore?
Are they really only content to see people as illnesses and not the people they are?
This society is sinking in its own prejudices and ignorance and I just haven't the will to fight it anymore. They keep saying yes, come back, we realise we were being prejudiced, and then whack, sorry not wanted anymore. Unfit to teach. 3 times in 2 years, and my heart is supposed to cope how?

I give up, what's the point of being part of a world so polluted in its thinking?

xx

i'm so sorry this is happening to you i don't see how it makes you unfit to teach, but please don't do anything to yourself and please don't give up....do you keep trying the same school or have you tried other ones? we are all here *hugs*

That sounds pretty f**ked. Is it your medical history that's messing with it? Stupid people.
*hugs*
Hopefully they'll soon come to their senses.

Not again! How awful.

No one has told me that I can't teach because I'm a recovering alcoholic. Why should be a SIer in recovery be any different?

Hugs!

My husband is my best friend.

In forgiving others, we are not exonerating them. They may not deserve exoneration. Rather, in forgiving others we are giving up our anger over the fact that what happened is not what "should" have happened or that our life is not the way it "should" have been.

Thats not even the slightest bit fair!
Surely someone who has been through things that were against them then they would be the better teacher than someone who hadnt. it shows that you have the stamina and strength to be able to cope with things that some others might find really hard.
Its like saying to someone of a differnt ethnic background that they cant work there becuase they 'Look'&'Sound' different even when they dont

dosnt it?

I hope you can beat it or anyone for that matter. Just dont give up You deserve to be able to teach. you have just as much right as anyone
Best of luck
Xx

That seems really wrong. if you are in recovery now i don't think they should stop you from teaching. unfortunatley people get very scared about things they don't understand. i really hope you find a way to solve this, try and stay positive and strong.

I am so sorry to hear that, that is such an unfair thing of them to do. Take care of yourself

Surely there is legislation in the disability discrimination act to prevent this kind of treatment?
