Triggering (Abuse) - Physical Pain after Nightmares?

im having this trouble.
i had a rough one last night.
this morning i woke up with terrible pain in my ribs, back, and legs.
these were the places that he used to hit me with the belt.
i can remember being sore and bruised for days afterwards.
also my private part feels like sand....which also used to happen afterwards.

im so sore ive got a heating pad on and i keep alternating it from my ribs to back to legs.
im so confused.
does this really happen or am i completely going crazy?

thank you so much for your thoughts.
love to all.

You're not crazy at all.
It's perfectly understandable *cuddles*
I wish I could explain it or make it go away....
Try having a nice warm bath and take good care of yourself...

i dont know if it is memories triggering the pain (so called 'all in your head' which does not make the pain any less real) all pain is controlled by the brain, so sometimes it does not have to be physically induced or if it's muscle spasms (during the nightmare) mimicing what physical pain you used to have.
i hope you're ok honey, maybe try lying in a warm bath with some soothing oils in, like lavender, only a couple of drops. another good thing i've read is to think of a smell that is happy for you, so for me it's christmas. get a small square of muslin, put some cinnamon, dried orange and mixed spices, and nutmeg nad clove in. tie it and let the bath water run through it. makes it smell of christmas and helps to relax.

for less favourable body smells (such as roast chicken) runs osme hot water into a sink with it in and then sit in the bath next to it. for roast chicken use some sage, some onion and some chicken stock/seasoning. remember to rinse sink out well afterwards. caution: side effect is craving said food.
love you rachie, mand x
