A Saturday Night Story - the Christmas presents

A young mother had twin children, Will and Jenny. They were complete opposites in their outlook on life - Will was a born pessimist, while Jenny was an eternal optimist. These different attitudes worried the mother, particularly when it came to buying presents for them.
So she decided to consult a child psychiatrist regarding what to get them for Christmas. He told her to spend as much as she could afford on Will the pessimist and said that Jenny would probably be happy with anything - "why not get her a pile of manure and wrap that up for her. She'll think it'll be good for her vegetable plot in the garden. I'm sure she'd be fine with that."
The mother took his advice and spent a couple of hundred pounds on presents for Will and wrapped up a box of manure for Jenny.
On Christmas morning the kids were opening their presents. "What has Santa Claus brought you?" she asked Will.
He answered gloomily, "a bike, but I'll probably get run over riding it; football boots, but I'll probably break my leg playing; and an electric train set, but I'll probably electrocute myself ..."
Realising that this wasn't going as she'd planned, she turned quickly to Jenny. "And what has Santa Claus brought you Jenny?"
"Well, I think I got a pony," said Jenny, up to her armpits in manure, "but I haven't been able to find him yet ... !"

Tony.

PS. I think gorillas may be the "in" present this Christmas ...

I hope she finds that pony soon!

I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.

My mum got my brother a wooden spoon one year - because he likes to stir things up.

I would be so very pissed off if I got manure though!

Mandi, I'd have bought James a book entitled "How to be the next Bill Gates" (so that he could keep me in the style to which I'd like to be accustomed), and I'd have bought Harley a new Ferrari (if it weren't for the fact that I'd have to insure it for him).
As for myself, I'm not letting on (but it has nothing to do with gorillas!)

Tony.

i've seen harley on a bike i'd be reluctant to let him lose with the keys for anything as fast *cough* expensive *cough* as a Ferrari! Although you could order him to chauffeur you everywhere! and I don't know if Bill Gates even knows how he is so successful!

For yourself... hmmm I think it would be a rather large bottle of something rather intoxicating so you could forget (albeit temporarily) that the other two presents didn't work out!
