ADD Medication for Depression

Hi, so a few days ago I was put on an ADD medication (not sure if I'm allowed to say the name of it) for possible ADD (although it's never been brought up before now) and depression. I have been going through a period of a massive lack of motivation, poor concentration and lots of impulse spending. So far it's going well. I have a few annoying side effects but I feel as though at the moment the benefits outweigh the side effects.

I was wondering if anyone else had been on ADD medication for these kind of problems and how it was for them?

Sorry you didn't get any responses to this. I haven't been on ADD medication, but was wondering how you're getting on with it? Hope you're still finding that the benefits outweigh the side effects!

Hi, it's okay, I guess it's not really a common thing. A lot of the side effects are gone, the main thing I notice now is just a dry mouth and a loss of appetite (which apparently stops after a few weeks on the meds). The effects are quite remarkable. I went from leaving the house maybe once or twice a week and needing a rest day in between to leaving the house everyday for hours at a time and I don't feel the need to nap all the time.
Part of me is terrified they'll stop working because that's what has happened with all the antidepressants I've been on. I guess I should just enjoy it while it lasts though.

That's great that you've experienced such positive effects from the medication!

I can understand the worry about it stopping working, but if that happened there may be an option to increase the dose, so try not to worry about that too much.

Hope you continue to find the medication helpful :)

Ritalin has helped greatly with breakthrough depression, however, the effects are not as predictable as I expected. I'm on a generic. It helps the morning depression, which is the worst. However, sometimes it seems to vary in its ability to get me going
