Can you call your team and ask for support whilst you have insight at all?

I know it's scary but they can help you. Also can give you extra support to help you manage at home. Xx

Talk to your team to see about a med increase

Put in place your prevention tools so staying calm, trying to sleep etc.

Thanks guys. I spoke to my cc yesterday. She wasn't very helpful. She sad find out reasons why I'm not sleeping or have too much energy. I'm not sure to be honest. I'm seeing her next Thursday as she couldn't do anything earlier. She just kept mentioning mood disorder and trying not rely on medication. But then I said I wanted to come of my meds (aripiprazole, citalopram) but stay on the Pregablin.

My boyfriend has made me cut out caffeinated drinks and red bull which is really hard for me as its my water.

I still feel my energy increasing. I'm worried as I don't want to be ill again.

There are any things you can do on your own and there are some.good books and websites that may help just Google th or go on Amazon.

I think cutting out caffeine is a good start and getting plenty of rest.

Also you could use the extra energy to your advantage. I mean no on likes being tired all the time. There is a good book called the bipolar advantage that helps you make the most of an episode without harm to yourself.

Why do you wanna stop your meds?
What did you want your cc to say?

Hi I understand how scared you are, this sounds really scary like my mood Monday night, I was taken for assessment by the police, at the local psych ward, where I have often been described as high, manic, hyper active or excitable, I'm supposed to be in touch with the crisis team, and have a new referral to the Psych, but that feeling inside is not changing, I feel explosive from inside out, but I'm just hanging on in, clinging to tiny pieces of hope that the feeling will pass,

Please keep trying, I don't have a cc, so it at least looks like your team are organised, is there anyone else you can see, or talk to?

I go to Mind and other charities like Gofal for support, I was with Gofal last night for my stress management course, is this maybe something you'd consider if it's available to you? I find courses like this in the evening when I'd usually be alone really helpful, and one thing we do is drink coffee, as coffee stimulates us in a positive way, to aid in the relaxation element of the group :)

You say your boyfriend made you cut out caffeinated drinks and red bull, maybe this is not such a good idea, I find it harder to sleep if I'm feeling dehydrated, and suffer severe anxiety if I don't have my energy drinks.

Your cc is definitely right about finding out reasons why your not sleeping or have too much energy, could it be because of anger that your feeling about something that your failing to externalise, as this is what made me into a high, melt down like mood, is there anything that has happened recently, even if it's just a change to your routine that has caused your mood to shift, even something small, at least if they know there is something bothering you, they can maybe help you work through it.

Well done for posting here, that is also not easy when your feeling so unwell, if you want to talk more I'm here :)

Thank you for this insightful post, I just read this, and some of the things that Tom Wootton teaches, about recognising your stressors and using the energy to your advantage, these are similar to what I'm going through now, in my stress management course, but reading this has helped me take notice of myself, and my feelings and their validity, it has helped me think about putting extra safety measures in place and accept and use my energy to my advantage, I think I'm gonna have a good day today, and I highly recommend others take note of your post and go and look into Tom Wootton, and his teachings, I'd never heard of him before, but now when things are escalating I'm gonna do my best to turn it to my advantage :)

Thank you for your reply. I will look into when I'm home. I'm using a sleeping pill to sleep.

I want to come of the citalopram and aripiprazole because I don't think they do anything. The citalopram doesn't stop the lows and aripiprazole doesn't always stop the voices. The only one that works like a charm is Pregablin. It has stopped my panic attacks and freaking out on tubes.

I'm not sure what I wanted my cc to say. But maybe something more insightful in how to manage the highs if I do go higher. I must say the level I'm working at today is brill. I'm working at the moment and I have enough energy to keep me going. I've just drunk half a slim fast shake to keep me hydrated and fed. Struggling with eating as well but I guess that's another story. But it does feel like with this energy I don't need food as I don't need the energy from it anymore. But I'll keep at the slim fast shakes

I have emdr tonight and quite nervous. My therapist has never seen me a bit fast before. Nervous about speaking to her and seeing her. I don't know why exactly. But I'm scared of the session and how it will proceed.

Thank you stumpy. I will look intoWooton. I'll try thinking about what causes the shift. My bf thinks caffeinated drinks will increase the energy. Which won't be good. I'll try drinking something else instead or make a compromise with him. I'll reply better when I'm home from work. Thanks again.

My energy is increasing. I'm st work and it's been a breeze to do things. I'm like everywhere. I'm struggling to sit still when I'm doing 1:1 observations or on my break. I'm trying to do calming things.

Sometimes health professionals mdon't get it. They say self manage but don't give any specific advice.
I think there is a lot you can bit if you don't know what throes things are how can they expect You to do them.

I'm wondering if you have looked at the recovery hub in your area see if there are any courses on bipolar or looked at the bipolar UK website for support groups ?

Also the bipolar UK website has a forum and good suggestions. Might be a good place to start.

As for your meds, maybe it's best to speak to a Dr before stopping them.
I had seizures once when I stoped meds too quick. You don't want that. X

Putting my face in cold water and take it further having a cold bath was recommended to me by home treatment team and helped. Maybe you could try something similar?

The cold water works for me too, unless I get too high and my mood is too unstable that it has no effect, I also find dark rooms with ambient or red lighting helps to calm me, although not practical in a work environment, something I find in an office environment is to have something to do with my hands, I like to have a box of paper clips, and interlink them, this helps my restlessness and agitation, and allows me a better chance of maintaining my focus and to observe if I need to.

Is there anything distracting that you could do with your hands in your work place that could help in the 1:1 observation scenario?

Took a coldish bath, it helped slow down my thoughts a little bit until I got out of the bath. I might try plunging my face in cold water. that sounds like it may work. Thanks for your reply.

I was wriggling in my seat the whole hour of 1:1. luckily i wasn't scheduled for 2 hours at a time today. I was playing with a small chunk of play doh in my hand to keep me busy whilst observing the patient.

Today has been hard. my energy levels have heightened and my speech has quickened. my partner isn't happy with my energeticness at all. he was a right grump about it. I can't be like this as Im meant to be going on holiday on Sunday to come. woo! holiday! This is taking a lot of concentration to type so Ill leave it there for now. any more suggestions to help would be good.

Should I ring my CC again do you reckon?
xx

I'm glad the cold water seemed to work, as did having something for your hands to do during a 1 hour observation, the play doh is a good idea, I sometimes use blutack, also carrying a marble or a bead to roll in my hands.

It sounds like your really excited about your holiday, maybe think about things you'll need for your holiday, clothing, wash kit, towels, medication, do all the preparation ready, if you think about this rather than the excitement of being there, this might help your partner to feel less uncomfortable about all your energy, try some quiet meditation, or even do some research about your holiday location, any excursions you could go on, any sights to see, maybe this will help take your mind off the excitement :)

I definitely think it would be a good idea to ring your CC again, as your CC probably knows you better, and may be able to make more suggestions, something else I like to do to calm myself is watch relaxation, meditation and self hypnosis videos on youtube, maybe give it a go when you've got the time :)

Just don't want her to think I'm attention seeking.

Well if it was me talking to someone from my team, I'd explain that I've been overly high and energetic, so much so that it appears to be bothering my partner, and that I have tried lots of suggestions made by other people on how best to calm myself and try to bring my energy levels under control, but nothing seems to be helping much. I'd ask if there is anything they can do or suggest to help me feel less anxious about the excessive energy levels, even something as simple as meeting for cuppa, something different from the norm. I'd also ask if they know if there are any relaxation or alternative therapy groups. I don't think they'd think your attention seeking, or at least I'd hope not, your doing a lot to help yourself, and there should be no shame in asking for a bit of extra support to help keep you calm until your holiday :) x
