Discharged too soon, possibility they think I'm malingering?

I'm a little worried and somewhat sensitive about the manner in which I was discharged from hospital back onto a Community Treatment Order. I presented with Auditory Hallucinations and Delusions and the conclusion was my Schizoaffective Disorder had flared up again and causing me problems. Do you think it was a quick turn around admitting me on a section 3 and discharging me back into the community in the space of 6 weeks? I was commenced on Deprakote 500mg tablets twice a day and thats stabilised my mood and stopped the Psychosis, is that normal without antipsychotic medication or has it made the Abilify (Aripiprazole) monthly depot injection I take for effective?

I'm paranoid that they think their is nothing wrong with me and I've made everything up, My discharge pack gives no indication and says firmly I have Schizoaffective Disorder. I think I'm being sensitive.

It sounds to me like you may be being a bit sensitive though no one can know for certain.

It sounds like you are doing much better in yourself so I wonder if you feel you still need to be in hospital as from your posts it doesn't strike me that you do?

The fact that you are on a CTO would suggest that they feel you are unwell as if you were malingering you wouldn't need one.

So to me it feels it all boils down to being discharged 6 weeks into a 6 month section?? Firstly being sectioned means two Drs and an AMPH thought you were ill enough to be in hospital. Secondly a section 3 is up to 6 months so you could be discharged a day into or have it renewed at the end. 6 week is a fairly substantial time to be in hospital and definitely long enough to get well so that time frame doesn't strike me as unusual.

That is my thoughts but there may be other indicators which are making you concerned? Could you talk to your care team?

you got put on depikote for a reason and you stayed there for 6 weeks for a reason.
they would not have kept you or added meds if they didnt think you needed it. there is a bed shortage and people dont get put on meds for no resason.
they would have kept you less time if they didnt think you needed it.
do you think 6 weeks is a short period to be in hospital?

so in that sense they must have thought there was something wrong.

I have schizoaffective disorder and i learnt that not all psychosis needs anti psychotics. sometimes if they believe its your mood causing the psychosis then an actual schizo/psychotic episode then they will treat with mood stabilizers instead of anti psych meds.

do you think they did the wrong thing?
why do you want to stay in hospital?

6 weeks is a considerable discharge. I was in for a month and people keep saying it was a while, and that was about 4 weeks.

Do you feel you were discharged prematurely?

Sometimes they only keep you IP for the worst and try to treat people n the community as much as possible especially because there is such a bed shortage/crisis at the moment, which could be why, if this was a shorter admission than previously, why that is.
