I am currently:
Personality disorder appointment

Hi all,

I'm currently awaiting a personality disorder assesment, probably for about 3-4 months in the whole process now. I'm just wondering if anyone has any experience with how long this takes? (i'm pretty impatient lol)
I've spoken to a pychotherapy doctor who hopes to treat me from a her unit, who has been kind enough to put me in touch with the local forensic psychology team for an assesment but it took me a month to find the doctor willing to asses or treat me, i then had to go see my G.P to get him to refer me by letter to her. She then wrote to the forensic psychology department The forensic psychology team took 3 weeks to send back a form which wanted lots of information, and i've not heard anything back from them, its been about 9 weeks after sending the form back.
The psychotherapy doctor has told me that on the information sent and my history that i would be entitled to an assesment.
I'm aware if i get the assesment it will take 6 sessions (which i assume are weekly?) and its just seeming like forever before i'm going to get any help or treatment.
I'm U.K based which i presume you will need to know as its probably a different system to America.
Thanks for reading and any advice in advance.
