You would have to speak with the psychiatrist or your CPN, but ultimately the decision will come from the psych.

I would also bear in mind that any services you are using that you were referred to via the CMHT will usually stop treating you if you stop seeing the CMHT.

I'm not using any services referred to via CMHT so it shouldn't be much of a problem.

Do you feel better, do you feel like you don't need them anymore?

Make sure you're 100% sure x

I need help but they are absolutely useless. At every opportunity they mess up. I've given them so many chances.

Hey sweetie,
I sometimes want to discharge myself from my CMHT as they are useless and don't always help however they always come through in the end. Is it possible for you to talk to them about it before you discharge yourself and then things get bad? X

Try to talk to your CMHT about your concerns before discharging yourself, because once you discharge yourself it's hard to get back under their care in the future.

My social worker is on annual leave for 3 weeks now so that means I won't have seen her for about 4.5/5 weeks. She has arranged a CPA for when she gets back but I'm not going. I'm supposed to get discharged from the psych. ward next week but I'm not going to the review. Perhaps I'm being irrational but it's how I feel right now.

If you really wanna get out if services then the best thing you can do is comply with their demands for 2-3 months and get out of hospital and say out for 2-3 more months then you can discharge without the worry.

Try to discharge yourself now and you will most likely end up on another section. Which is like the opposite of what you want.

It sounds like you definitely need support at the moment. Cripes, I need support and I'm not even on a psych ward! So, please, think of your safety and long term health and speak to someone you trust about your concerns.

Would you be able to get an advocate so you can try and get some better support from them? x

^ agree with above, an advocate is usually the best way forward, and especially as you are currently in the hospital, they are easier to contact. They are independent too, so you can express the concerns/lack of support you feel you are getting from the CMHT and they work with you and are completely on your side.

I really wouldn't advise discharging yourself right now, even if you feel they are completely useless, you have to work with them to some extent to get out of the hospital (?)... If you just point blank refuse the little help they may give you, it could either end in a longer stay in hospital, or even the hospital just turning round and basically saying well, you won't accept help offered so why should we help you? And then you literally will be left with no mh support.

It is easier to dismiss the CMHT when you are in a situation like this, but for the future, when you are home, when you have no care coordinator (even if it's a bad one) then what? I think you need help, and I think you know that too. If you aren't happy with the care you receive from them, fight. Stand up for yourself and try every avenue to get what you need from them...

Just my opinion, please try and think very carefully about your decision.

Also, about the process of discharge, I'm not sure how it works with you being inpatient, but I imagine the right way would be to be discharged by a psych etc, but if you just have no contact, I presume that is classed as self discharge also...

Letters don't make things final, in fact letters for me can be an impulsive thing.
I guess you have been feeling so frustrated by the CMHT that people write/say things and really mean it and want it that way at the time, but then there is reflecting time, the aftermath...

Are you regretting sending the letters? Is that what you mean by the :(?

Because the letters aren't necessarily a final end all and be all... Maybe a phone call/conversation/anything similar to maybe just be heard, and not in such a final way?

I guess a part of me does regret posting them. IDK I was just really angry, I still am. I'm still really upset about 'L' and it's like nobody is there to support me.
