Anyone ever had lithium toxicity?

They recently increased my lithium. I got bloodwork and my level is perfect but I am having symptoms. Headaches that are very intense and persistent headaches that last days and don't respond to medication. Yesterday I was going to go to urgent care but i don't have insurance and it would have cost around $400. I slept for 15 hours. Right now I don't have a headache but I feel weak. At this point, unless I'm dying I am waiting till monday to go to a doctor that will be free but I have to work an 8 hour shift tonight and tomorrow is my college graduation. I worry that this is because of the med increase but I cant do much about it right now.

Is there a medical helpline you can call to get this checked you?

I'm sorry, I am unfamiliar with lithium toxicity but it seems like something quiet serious; what are your options for immediate treatment? Or assistance even, such as a helpline that might be able to deal with medical questions.

Hope you're okay. If you're feeling ill, perhaps call sick into work so you can get some rest.

I'm sorry I don't have answers, but am bumping this one hoping someone else does.
Take care x

Hi SoDark,
How long ago did you get the blood work done? Usually it is every 3 months. It is not just about lithium levels but also kidney/ liver function- in terms of how well your body is dealing with processing the meds and keeping other toxins out of your body. Are you due for another test? I sometimes have to remind my doctor.
The side effects may be your body adjusting to the new dosage as well, so that may mean you need to contact your doctor with what is happening.

I hope that you can manage to get through your graduation tonight.
Your plan to go to the doctor on Monday is good, but at least have a family member/ friend aware of your symptoms- write a list etc and how long it has been happening in case you feel too ill before you see a doctor, so they can communicate on your behalf.

I'm feeling better. The doctor just gave me something for the headaches and they did a blood test to check my kidneys. I don't know the results yet. Thanks for the replies. I'm just kinda sick of side effects but what else is new.
