Try not to pre-empt what the doctor will say because you nor your friends cannot diagnose you. Go into the doctors surgery with an open mind and be completely honest with them. They'll want to help you but that might not necessarily be through a diagnosis.

Well done for getting the appointment and I hope it goes well for you.

Self diagnosing is a very dangerous thing to do, your friends are actually (unconciously I'm sure) having a detrimental effect on your recovery from this. If they speak about "what might be wrong" just tell them that you are going to wait and see what the doctor says.
The reason I say this is because you may begin to pigeon-hole yourself into a diagnosis that you do not have. Over-analysing some symptoms and ignoring others to fit yourself into the label you have read about. A diagnosis of any mental health problem takes time, it takes years of training to understand the depths of these problems. I know you can find a lot (or what seems to be a lot) of information about these different diagnosis online, but the information you find is subjective and gives little indication of what it is actually like to have these problems.
It's very brave of you to take this step. Be honest, be open and remember that you have control over your care. If you feel you are not ready to do something, air your concerns and talk through them with your doctor.
Try not to worry yourself with the what if's of a diagnosis. A diagnosis is really only there to help profesionals give you the right support, it is nothing more than that. It does not define you as a person nor does it mean you need to be treated any differently.
I hope your appointment goes well, take care

some doctors like to take mental health on themselves and some don't, the ones who don't may refer you to a councellor or the mental health serices. It can take time to get a diagnosis, if they even tell you that you have one. it can also take alot of trials of types of therapy too, cognitive behavioural therapy, group theray, 1-2-1 therapy, art...dialactal behavioural therapy..and ot can take time to find the right med or combination of meds.
everyone will have a couple of features of every mental health disorder..but self dignosing is the worst thing.

all i suggest is you go to your doctors not expecting much, because if you expect too much and come out with nothing you will feel like s**t... and IF you get referred to any concellor or mental health team don't go in expecting much too... i'm not trying to say you won't get help, because you will, just takes a while to feel like you are getting help and support.

i hope this helps x

Taking medication can sound scary, but in the long run it can really help to stabilize you, so they can then explore the roots of your problems. I wouldn't worry about it at all, just go in there and be honest. At the end of the day it doesn't matter what labels they give you, as long as your getting the help you deserve. Just remember whatever happens, you are still you, and that's not going to change.
