As part of my employer's ongoing monitoring and assistance with my mental health situation, last week they referred me to an occupational health company who completed an assessment and sent them a report. I had some sick days this week related to my mental health issues, so yesterday when I came back in I had a meeting with HR and my manager to discuss both the sickness and the report. Work know about my SI so that was covered in the report.
Work ended up asking some really weir questions and it made me feel really triggered and unstable. I ended up falling off the SI wagon afterwards because of how it made me feel.
Work wanted to know;
- Have I SI'd in the last few weeks (and they insisted on a "yes" or "no" - saying "a bit" wasn't adequate)
- Have I done it much?
- How many times? (When I said I hadn't been counting them, they then asked "but if you don't know how many times, how do you know you haven't done it much?")
- How badly did I do it?
- Was it the same way as last time - what form did the SI take?
- Did I do it in the office?
- When I had my last instance of sick leave, what caused it?
- What made me feel anxious, why did I feel that way?
- What did I do while off to try to make myself feel better?
- Why do I feel triggered by X situation and Y scenario?
I just felt like these questions were really personal and I didn't really understand why this would be something they would need to know. The Occ Health people didn't ask anything like these questions.
Am I wrong to feel so triggered by this?
