Can anybody even tell me what this means?? Does this mean I'm almost Schizophrenic?!
My Psychiatrist diagnosed it to me but he didn't fully explain it! I did some research and it didn't tell me very much...
I don't think it fully covers my symptoms either.. It says people with Spd don't have the psychotic symptoms that Schizophrenic people do but I do experience the psychotic symptoms... I don't know what to think or do. I feel so freaken lonely. Like an insane person compared to my family. I know they think i'm crazy... I can't blame them really. I guess that's what you get when the people on the Tv start talking to you.. about you...
I'm staring in the mirror looking back at the person I hate.
I don't know a lot about schizoid personality disorder, but I did think it covered psychosis. I think you should talk to your doctor and ask him why he diagnosed you with it. You have a right to understand your diagnosis.
As I understand it, schizoid symptoms are extreme withdrawal, cutting off warm feelings for protection, prefering to be alone. Schizotypal is where the psychosis comes in, I think.
From what I have read, it sounds related to negative symptoms of schizophrenia such as lack of emotion, lack of motivation, no desire to form relationships, like to be on their own.
Schizoid PD is not almost schizophrenia, no. I wouldn't worry too much about what it is. Labels are mainly to help the doctors group symptoms together and treat people. A for 1, B for 2 etc. Is also rigid.
Ask the psych how this diagnosis pertains to you personally.
Stop thinking about what I want, what he wants, what your parents want. What do you want?
Hi,
Check out 'selfinexile' on google. I'm not allowed to give a direct link tho.
Shiziod disorder of the self is no more schizophrenic than Borderline pd.
It does not mean you are schizophrenic, no, you just may have similar symptoms to it.
Basically - because I have done a lot of research on this - having schizoid personality disorder would sugest,
Introversy - avoids danger, typical 'loner' (hate that word!), and may be into fantasies and daydreaming (I happen to do this a lot, a great escape mechinism).
Withdrawness - Observes activties rather than participating in them, shows timidness ect.
Narcissism - more inward than out, prefers to concentrate energy inwards than outwards.
Self-sufficient - relies on self during life. However this may develop into complete depedency with other tasks..
Sense of superiorty - Not in the way that that suggests they are above other, just that they are different.
Lonliness - Speaks for itself. Not longing for real relationships except for in fantasy is this occurs.
Depersonalisation - a loss of identity. Feels overwhelming danger and anxiety.
Regression - I think this means that they rely on fantasy worlds and regress inwards to find safety which is not found in reality.
Most of it's been said above. I think just basically its a person who does not desire social interaction, because of that they exist mainly in a fantasy world, consider themselves to have few close friends, are very self sufficient. They also have very flattened emotions and compassion I think, though the 'hostility' (for lack of a better word) can often be covert, and not picked up by others.
I often wonder if this is me.
