"creative type"

I was wondering if there were any other "creative types" (eg musician, writer, artist, etc) who were scared to get better. This sounds weird, but I'm scared if I cure my mental illness that I'll lose that creative part of me :\

i understand how you feel. but if you do get better and it affects your work, it doesn't mean you will lose any talent. it just means your style will change. so just think of it as moving into another period of artwork for you.
with my depression however, i am desperate to get better because i realized yesterday that i have played the guitar only a few times in the past few months. when a year ago, i took an hour a day to practice. i really want to play and get my skill back. but i just don't care enough to do it. which upsets me :/ although since my depression worsened, my talent for drawing crazy doodles rather than taking notes has increased considerably :) the **** i come up with these days is crazy haha

I'm a singer/dancer/writer, I want to be well enough to sing and dance but I know I only tend to get inspired to write when I'm not well but I'd still rather be well.

Like I compose music, and I look at the history of composers and like all of them went crazy, and it makes me wonder, do I have to be crazy if I want to be great?

Sorry, these are just kind of my ponderings in life right now.

I write, and I find that everything about me fuels the fires and nourishes the streams of my creativity. The shadows, and the brightness.

Agreed with Stellata. Everything that happens in your life has the possibility of turning into something creative. Heck, i wrote a song about idiots who play their music out loud on the bus. :D
