Just wondered if I was alone in this, but since I was a teenager (20 years ago) I hate Christmas time. Used to seem so magical when I was little, but ever since I have been a teenager and even more so into adulthood, I always remember just hating it. I guess this year seems worse because its the first year i have been divorced, my exwife couldnt understand it, even I can't understand why, but I would love to fast forward to 2 january! Weird I guess
For me it's a time when my isolation and aloneness is all too accentuated. In certain frames of mind, I hate the whole time of year and anything that reminds me of it, but in another part I try to make the best of it.
i remember bein 13 when xmas started gettin me down.. (looong time ago) as soon as i start seein lights up and hear the songs i jus get so depressed.. which is wierd cos im depressed all year round but somethin bout xmas pushes me further.. have NO idea why tho
but i know how you feel xxx not wierd at all.. xxx
hope it does get better for you tho xxx :)
The hardest thing in this world... is to live in it.
I don't remember ever enjoying christmas... when I was little I used to get so upset and jellous around christmas time watching everyone else be all happy and excited while I dreaded the day
as I've gotten older I've hated it more and more...
Rachel24 - exactly how I feel, likewise I dont know why !! Christmases on your own I guess are worse, but I dont remember liking any of them even when I have been in relationships or married for 6 of them. I think being married for 6 christmases was actually worse as I really just wanted to hide away, and I couldnt without causing domestic rows!!! Most of my "single" christmases have been spent drunk or hungover lol. Christmas lights dont bother me, but christmas songs really do me in!!! Glad it seems like Im not alone, I feel it though.
I think Christmas is like Marmite, to coin the phrase 'you either love it or hate it'- and I am not trying to be sarcastic.
Honest. For some it is the worst time of the year and for others it is the best.
I realized that last year.
Not looking forward to this Christmas for a few reasons.
You are not alone.
Shine, think you're right, just seems like everyone "loves it". glad to learn im not alone with this. Cant wait for the 2nd january when its all over with
krissyinterupted, well said!!! if rage against the machine can win number 1 with a facebook campaign - maybe i can get it cancelled next year!!! Oh well I can dream!
I loved christmas when I was a kid...december seemed to be the longest month of the year because I was so anxious and crazy for december 24 to come, to me there was some magic energy in the air
From the past 10 years or so, I don't like christmas anymore...I don't feel that magic energy I used to, when I see the lights, x-mas decorations, songs, everybody happy I get sad..very sad...even in parties with my family is hard for me to hide the depression, I feel that need to stay away from everybody to not ruin their fun...I wished to stay in my bedroom for the entire december and first week of january without seeing anyone
I write this alone on my bed; I've poisoned every room in the house; The place is quiet and so alone; Pretend there's something worth waiting for; There's nothing nice in my head The adult world took it all away; Wake up with same spit in my mouth; Cannot tell if it is real or not; I try and walk in a straight line An imitation of dignity- MSP - From despair to Where
I am human and I need to be loved just like everybody else does - The Smiths How Soon is Now
I feel the same way... I had like three big fights this christmas and spent the last one pretty much alone and it's just not fun anymore and just depressing...

I hate it, mainly because my ex tainted so many memories. Each christmas, I was walking on eggshells, in case he got drunk and started getting abusive. Last year, I was an "evil ****ing bitch" because it was our sons first christmas, and I'd told him no, he couldn't have his friends over.
This year was my first Christmas as a single parent. Christmas eve, I sat in the living room, and cried. My son didn't deserve what happened. Yet his family on his dads side have practically forgotten about him, because I left Jamie. It's not fair that they're punishing an innocent toddler, because of the fact I took him away from a violent alcoholic.
To make matters worse, my sister in law made a point of pointing out he didn't have many presents this year. That hit me hard, because I really try for him.
