So, I am getting kind of desperate, I just feel lonely a lot of the time and wish I had somebody I was really close to. It makes me so sad that I seem to be missing out on an aspect of life that so many people just take for granted. I also feel like nobody else can really relate to how I feel, as most of my friends have no trouble attracting men and having relationships. I'm at uni and so have joined societies and stuff there, but none of the guys seem particularly interested in me. To be perfectly honest, I'm not an attractive-looking person, but I'm not horrendously ugly either. One easy way of getting male attention is in clubs, but I usually ignore it because I figure that they probably only want to sleep with me, or are so drunk that any girl will do. Do you think maybe I should pursue this more, does anyone know if it's possible to find love from a one night stand...? :(
i really dont think having a one night stand will help. i guess you could be lucky and find the love of your life by having one night stand but 9 times out of 10 the guy will just disappear which is horrible. why not hand your number out to a few guys and just text for a few weeks? you could find out what you have in common and i find its easier to talk by texting. dont put pressure on yourself to try and find a boyfriend because it will happen for you. Good luck, im sure you will find a wonderful guy :)
I'm kinda the same, but with girls seeing as i'm a boy lmfao. >_<' It's hard to find a good relationship nowdays. To most people sex is everything and relationships just seem to revolve around sex and it's horrible. :(
Yeah as I was ranting in another thread, I'm the same, but with girls due to being a guy. I wouldn't recommend a one night stand as being a good idea as like you said, people just want sex and that's it.
Don't really know what advice I can give, or else I'd follow it myself and hopefully not be in the same situation.. guess I'm just saying that I can totally relate to how you feel and I know how hard it is.
Why can't all the sex addicts just go to some other country and all the people wanting serious relationships in another? Would make things hell of alot easier haha.
EEk this is going to sound harsh, and I'm not a nasty person at all, honest. So I'll surrounnd the harsh sounding stuff with hugs to help *hugs* Stop looking for Mr/Miss Right, they only appear when your not looking for them. Spend time on yourself, doing what you want. Have close friends, gain self confidence. No one that is going to be good for you will fall in love with you if you are uncomfortable in yourself. If you're happy, people are happy to be with you, so spoil and indulge yourself and let love find you! *hugs* Sorry but I was given this advice fromm my Mum after a horrendous break up, once I took it and started to just enjoy myself I met my husband!

Yeah one night stand are not the way to go .Im single too and all my relationships came about when I wasnt expecting them. You will just have to wait until it happens ,you cant preordain these things.
Im finding it hard too ,so I know where you are coming from .Its awful when you see everyone married and together .The most important thing is to be happy with yourself or nobody else will want you as above ^.

I agree with this, though I am very cynical about relationships and such...I've never understood how people actively look for others? IE: how do you do it? Bars and one night stands are not the way to go for something long-term, IMO. Maybe you could meet someone relatively early in a bar and meet them for coffee the next day? But "bar-time," not so much...Know what I mean?
I can relate to you, Elley, for sure. I'm 24 and single and have posted numerous threads in Vets. about being lonely and scared of relationships...Most people I know are in serious relationships or going to get married, and I feel like I will be eternally single...My biggest problem is that I have a hard time trusting people and opening up to them...I get attention from people at clubs too, but I don't take it seriously; I figure they just want sex or something.
I do believe that I need to get comfortable w/myself before I can let anyone else in...So maybe we're in the same boat? Please feel free to PM me if you need to talk more. Take care.
I feel the same, I just panic at the thought that if it is about me and I'm never happy with who I am then am I doomed to be alone? Saying that the advice I can give is make friends, then you will meet people in and around your social circle with similar interests. talking to people I have met one person who found their husband in a night club, one speed dating, two on a train, a couple on the internet, but the absolute majority have found their partners by meeting them through friends, but I agree, don't go "looking" it doesn't work, enjoy yourself and the rest will follow :)
"I am me and me is good enough if I would only be it openly"
Thanks for the replies. It's nice to know other people feel the same (although obviously I wish none of us felt like this!). I'm going to have to just focus on improving other areas of my life and see what happens :/

I think its easier to find herpes in a one night stand than love lol,
If I were you I wouldn't be in a rush. If you think your lonely now just wait
I can't help but wonder, if theres us posting on here there must be more of us around (i write as if we're rare lols (but are we? :S)) so why do we never them?
There's gotta be someone out there who'll make you happy...sure they'll be worth the wait :)
