HIV

I've fretted over posting this, as I don't know whether or not it'd be a good idea. Or even if there's anything you guys might be able to help me with.

I have this friend. We're fairly close. She's like the sister I always needed and wanted. We originally got fairly close and then finding out about the other's abuse brought us closer. She took her abuser to trial and got him put away for a bit, which is good. I'm very proud of her for that.

However, she got raped again. And this time the person doing the raping was HIV positive. So now she's got it.

And I have no idea how to help her. I don't know what resources to show her, I feel so lost.

If you guys have got any ideas about this, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks.

Don't walk behine me I might got you lost!
Don't walk in front of me I may not follow you!
Don't walk beside me the path is to small!

All we can do is walk our own paths, remember your not alone because we are all walking our own paths together!

I, myself, have HIV. got it from saving a friend's life. (ironic, eh?)

Best you can do is love and support her, research the illness, maybe go with her to doctor appointments and such? my PM box is always open as well.

best of luck!!!

i have a friend who was diagnosed with HIV, he'd been cheating on his boyfriend (also a close friend of mine) and was in denial, his boyfriend had to find all the other men to tell them to get tested.

they're still together, dave is too ill to be on his own, jason couldn't leave him like this, even though he's the injured party.

so i go and i kinda skirt around dave a bit... he's hurt a friend terribley, so i don't really have to deal with the HIV at all. We just know to be careful with any wounds to keep covered, if we're ill to stay away coz he'll catch it, he knows all the rest about sharing glasses etc, i think its more a precaution than a must, but he makes sure that he has a coloured glass, everyone else has plain then he knows its his.

do some research so you can remain close to your friend and help her without her having to be aware of being safe.
