My dr cut down my sleeping pills a couple of weeks ago and since then i've not been sleeping properly. He won't put them up again becuse they're addictive. I've tried all the alternatives like taking a bath and hot milky drinks but nothing is really working.
I'm so tired all the time i can't function properly. I keep falling asleep at my desk and am so far behind with work i don't know how i'll ever catch up.
I don't know what i'm asking really. I just know i can't live like this any longer.
Im sorry your struggling. Do you think you could go back to your doctor and explain how bad it is and see if there is anything else he can offer. I really don't know what else to suggest.
Take care of yourself

You're entirely bonkers. But I'll tell you a secret. All the best people are.
hope the doctor helps. you could try lavender oil on ur pillow. not sure how effective it will be cause ive never tried. also obvious things like no caffine etc
So i saw the doctor today and he wasn't much help. He asked if i was sleeping properly i told him no and he gave me more of the same pills with the same instructions not to take them too often. Then he told me to work hard on my dissertation, how am i susposed to do that when i can barely keep my eyes open?
having the same problem.
Apparently, valerian root and melatonin are meant to help with sleep.
I tried the valerian but it just upset my stomach so never tried again. the melatonin worked once. It is possible to get prescription strength melatonin, my friend was on it and said it worked well for him.
Might be something to ask about/try??
I'd ask first tho, in case it has an interaction to any other meds/herbal supplements you might be on.
good luck

The thing is, I sympathise completely, I have terrible sleeping problems too, but the more he gives you, the higher the dose, the more addicted you'll be. And by addicted I don't mean craving them necessarily, but what they mean in this instance is that they'll stop having any effect. If you take too much, too often, they will stop working altogether. I hear that you're saying you've tried everything and I'm really sorry I don't know what more to suggest. Could you try changing your diet to avoid caffiene in evenings and eat high energy food during the day? Anyhow, I just wantedf to explain about what the doc means, if you get me. I know it sucks, and we're here to support you through this shitty insomnia.
