I used to be on ruin. I'm trying to think when I would have joined. Prob 2002. Brings back so many memories thinking about it.

I was on ruin. I’ve been in and out of here for years always under different names because I couldn’t remember the password for the last one.
I remember it changed to recover in between one of my absences

I always come back when I’m feeling particularly shitty.

I know I'm really late to add to this thread, but I was here when it was ruin. I think I have never actually been on recover before last night, but I remember my cousin telling me about the change sometime in our later teen years. I don't remember at all what username I would have gone by back then.

Used to be on Ruin in 2002 and 2003, left for a long time after that and came back in 2013 (had to create a new account since I didn't remember the log in info or email for my old one) than left again and came back sporadically over the years. Kinda crazy to come back to the site and now realize it has been 22 years since I first found it.

Ruin was sui generis.
Cant see anything like it manifesting again.
It moved so fast 24/7 - could watch the globe logon in stages.
UK/Europe to US/Canada to Australia/Singapore
People wrote amazing things back then - some still haunt.
Internet 1.0 was open, broad and thoughtful where 2.0 is slogans, influencers and hive think.
