Inspired by the fact that many of us ladies seem to love gamers, here it is.
Feel free to b*tch, rant, ask questions, and indulge in general support.

My partner is 25 and a gamer. It's annoying sometimes when he's talking to people with his headset on and I'm trying to ask him something. I resort to throwing things at him to get his attention sometimes, nothing hard though I'm not that cruel

The only game that we both play is the Sims 3, you can really play it together but it is a fun game :)

I really have nothing good to add to this because i'm forever alone, but gaming is the way to go, instead of "bitching" about it why don't you join in with him/her?

I didn't mean to come across as bitchy, I tried to join in and played for a couple of months but it didn't really interest me, I did give it a good try though. I quite like that he has gaming as a hobby, he writes for ezines and things and I think it's a nice way to meet people. I have pretty solitary hobbies, writing and reading, which keep me occupied.

Nooo i wasn't trying to say anyone was bitching, i worded it badly, I was quoting the OP "Feel free to b*tch, rant, ask questions, and indulge in general support.".
But well done for at least trying it out! what is ezines?

Oh right okey doke, they're just magazine on the internet, he writes them for a website he's a member of, he's like a moderator but he organises events online and things too.

my partner is a gamer... I have sort of joined in, but I am not a PC fan whereas he is and right now we don't have the X-box or Wii as they are in storage (the fun of moving from a flat to a single room).

TF2 and LF" are the banes of my life... granted I play them too but I don't get anywhere near as serious and annoyed at them as he does...

Boarderlands and dragonage are my games :) I have already ordered boarderlands 2 and it's not out till march lol. Ordered it on the x-box though so we may need to work out some logistics...

headsets are SOOOOO annoying! esspecially when you only have one room to live in, can't escape it and can't hear the TV over the random shouting and swearing... doesn't help that my partners ears are seemingly broken as I can hear everything the people on the other end are saying as well as what he's saying

There are millions of different games out there to try, not just the mainstream stuff sold in Game. If you have a console then look on the online story. One example I can think of just now is Flowers on the PSN. Not everyone likes FPSs, and not everyone is good at racings sims, but there will no doubt be at least one game out there that suits you.

But if not, go and get your own hobby? It's good to do separate stuff.

My partner is an online gamer sort of gamer, he has dyspraxia and finds he can't really get on with console gaming so he plays games like world of warcraft and star trek online. I think he writes things for a site to do with star trek online. I played warcraft for a bit but I didn't really get on with it and went back to playing the sims 3 :)

aww, I didn't mean to down anyone's hobbies. :(
I have pretty reclusive hobbies of my own (ryl, journaling, facebook, etc)

I just find it pretty annoying when it becomes all consuming. Like, bring me my dinner cause I can't leave the computer for a half hour to come eat at the table with you....

Meh. :/

I get the all consuming thing, the hubby wanted to replace our decent sized HD tv with this new playstation 3DTV that is way tiny and he wouldn't be able to read subtitles on anyway because he's blind!
The new game in our life is Skylanders (Yeah a kids game) -.-; my 22 year old husband already has about 20 little action figures lined up in front of the tv o.o;

I am also a partner to a gamer. I do not enjoy them, at all - believe me; I've tried!
I had an argument with him today because he wanted another console and I said eight in the house is plenty - he did not agree lol!
My partner has not quite progressed to the point of not eating dinner at the table because of gaming; I feel it's not far off though!

I think theres nothing wrong with playing on a computer but as long as it don't take over your life or the life of others boyfriends/girlfriends, like the OP said "bring me my dinner cause I can't leave the computer" or if you can't go out to the pub or whatever because you have to kill a boss in a game or something...
But yeah a few hours a day or something like that should be more then enough...

Wait, did my little rant there actually make any sense or have anything to do with anything?

I'm the girlfriend of a gamer but I'm also a gamer myself but not as much as him. He can spend all day gaming, most of the time until he gets every trophy which gets a bit tedious sometimes when he ignores everything I say and I have to do everything.
Had no PS3 for a year cos it yellow lighted so I've been using the PS2 and he's been using PS1 and Mega Drive.
He got a new PS3 for Christmas so he's been chumming Gran Turismo while I've been on Red Dead and Assassin's Creed :)
