Favourite videos

Hello,

I'm going to be sending my class a 'video for the week' and came here for some ideas of your favourite videos (appropriate for 14 year olds) on youtube, tedtalks etc. They don't necessarily have to be educational, just anything funny/interesting/thought-provoking. I'm confident that none of them have an attention span longer than 5 minutes, so nothing longer than that please!

Thank you :)

I think this is an interesting & thought provoking one for an education environment (though I know some schools may disagree with me =P)

Here's the full version:

And this is a shorter highlights version:

This is my favorite ted talk, but it is unfortunately longer than 5 minutes:

I really like a lot of Vlogbrothers videos - they are all 4 minutes or less! (youtube)

I also like Squirmy and Grubs on youtube, but again they are usually longer videos.

Sherpa on youtube is a fun dog to watch, and his videos are all pretty short!

It's seven ish minutes rather than five, but I really like this one and think there are a lot of important things in it:

So it is nine minutes but it might be weird and morbid enough for older kids to enjoy?

It gave me a really good laugh.

Have you shown them Salad Fingers yet??

I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!

Who else is fine?!?!?

Haha! No, I don’t think that would be super-appropriate unfortunately. I did show Charlie the Unicorn to my lunchtime club (aka children who invite themselves to hang out with me at lunchtime -.-) earlier this year, so they are getting some proper cultural experiences :P

That's a shame. Salad fingers is the ultimate cultural experience!
Well done with charlie the unicorn though, that's a good shout!

I have nothing helpful to add, but just want to say that I haven't thought about Salad Fingers for absolutely years and now I'm traumatised all over again! =P

If only I was better at uploading pictures to RYL and then I would add to your trauma by posting a picture of the felt Salad Fingers guy that a certain outstanding RYL member made me for my birthday back in 2012 =D

Made me laugh though. Very good!

And now I really really want to watch the videos again but I think it might destroy me... argh!

Update: I really am whimpering btw. Googled it and am now trying to bring myself to click the video.

oh my days, if it's making you whimper you really ought to back away and watch something pleasing instead!

Didn't realise I'd become such a whimp!

Not sure I trust you but... *click*

Edit: Okay that was pretty darn cute. My zen has returned. ^.^
