Not sure yet Lindsay but I do need to think about it.
What kinds of furniture and just general things do I need to take over there do people reckon?

I guess the essentials would be a bed and a comfortable seat?
Is there anything in the kitchen already? If not, fridge and microwave would be a good start - if you don't have them already, you could get them delivered either new or second hand from somewhere like the British Heart Foundation furniture shop.
Yeah I got a bed and microwave.
No washing machine or fridge yet but my housing association lady said she can apply for those for me once my first universal credit payment comes through.

Do you know when you're due the first payment? How will you store your food without a fridge? Is there a laundrette you can go to while you don't have a washing machine?
I put it down on paper and then the ghost does not ache so much.
Don't try to calm the storm, calm yourself, the storm will pass.
You can ask for an advance on universal credit if you’re struggling, they’ll pay you sooner than normal but you do have to pay it back. They’ll take this off your future payments, so it may not be the best idea if you have a source of income just now while you wait. If not, its there incase you need it, but I would strongly advise you to speak to your housing officer about it because if you do get an advance you’ll get less money for a few months (usually about 6) while you pay your advance off.
I have savings for a little while. I get food that doesn't need to be stored in a fridge until I get one? I'm not sure when my first UC payment will come through.
Withdrawal proceedings have been initiated for me on the Doctorate.

Not a stupid question. I was feeling angry and your question helped me allow myself to feel how hurt I was/am. I needed that so thank you.
I haven't got much time to reply to your other kind replies yet so I'll get back to those if I may.

So just to update. I'm appealing this with the support of a lawyer. We had a meeting which was recorded. Nothing was mentioned about the financial abuse or coercive control until I mentioned it, at which point my course director said they had notes on that, what notes they had I'm unsure of as they did not take any notes during the meeting during which I disclosed. I now can't get access to the recording as they have blocked my access to university emails. They have not given access to the recording despite me sending multiple emails asking for it and the notes they supposedly have on my disclosure. They will have received an Occupational Health report declaring me fit to return to work yesterday so they made the decision without that, and they still haven't formally provided me with the outcome of my academic appeal.

I really hope the lawyer can help you navigate through this. You've been through hell and I am amazed by your determination to fight through all of this bureaucracy, particularly with the university making it so unnecessarily complicated.
Just a gentle reminder that you are allowed to take some time to breathe and recover - you've gone through a nightmare situation with such strength and grace and it's OK to rest. Thinking of you.

"You're not scared of climbing mountains. You're scared that you can't make them move."
Thanks Lio, your words are so lovely. I just feel like I can't stop yet.
