Antipsychotics causing/exacerbating OCD
So this started on a different medication but it's come back on this one. I am on a high dose and nobody seems to think coming off it is an option. Has anybody else had their medication cause OCD? How have you dealt with it? I've just started an antidepressant to help but I don't want to be throwing medication at things for the rest of my life.
It seems really odd that this isn't on the list of side effects.

I have not had this experience, but I know for me antipsychotics DID increase my agitation/anxiety, and I needed medication to counteract that. So I wonder if for you it could be similar, that it's increased anxiety or other feelings, which in turn has triggered OCD for you? Not trying to diagnose or anything, just wondering if maybe the OCD is a symptom of something else and not the direct correlation?
I'm guessing switching doses or medications is not an option?

Please do not give me virtual hugs unless you are only using the hug function on threads. Thanks.

Thanks Camden.
I think you're probably right. The sertraline seems to be doing something, and I haven't had any major attacks in the last couple of weeks.
No, they want me to stay on this med and dose, which is a pain for many reasons!

I'm glad the sertraline is helping but that's super frustrating that they aren't willing to consider switching things up for you. Ugh.

This is a very popular thread for spammers… should I feel proud?

Haha, definitely!
On another note, how are you finding the meds now? This was posted a while ago so don't want to give suggestions of the issue is sorted!

Thanks :)
I'm off the meds now, I got more ridiculous side effects and it really wasn't worth it. I haven't had any bad OCD symptoms for a while (touch wood)

Bad meds suck.
I'm sure
That sometimes they help.
Everyone is different.
Maybe if the dose wouldn't knock out an
Elephant...

Closing due to length of time since last post. The OP has made it clear in private that she will never want the thread reopening so my usual spiel is redundant here
