I disagree. Why not try to change it? A lot of the things that people want changed can't be until the mythical V.4, but still. A lot of people have left (which is a good thing if they don't need/want RYL anymore), but it does appear to have a left a bit of a gap in terms of members more willing to participate in general topics.

C) About the songs and music and happy feelings and things. I'm a musician. I play the flute. When I play a piece of music, I can play it in a style that reflects my mood, no matter what the music. Having played, having streamed my thoughts through the music, I feel better. When people play sad music/suicide/SI music, they can stream their own thoughts, feelings and moods through the piece of music. It's similar to what I do. What's wrong with that?
There's nothing wrong with it.

D) I agree with the CC board. I posted a thread, nothing to do with SI at all. They were a series of poems with hidden messages, such as "nature" or "A spider" or "Holidays" and "family". The most triggering thing in them was probably the fact that I mentioned a bedroom wall in one of them. I got no replies, except for when I updated my thread with another poem. Also, in R&R, a remember a Monty Python thread. I love Monty Python. I use it to laugh away my bad feelings. It fell to about the millionth page within a week because it wasn't sad. See my point?
Yes, that people want to discuss the more depressing topics. Which I find quite sad.

As for the Twilight thread, I think it epitomises one of my issues with R&R. Those who hold a more negative view are not welcomed there, at least from the posts I've seen. Granted, a lot of the negativity isn't voiced in a very nice way, but some of it can be. So really it's the Positive Twilight Discussion thread.

Not allowed to criticise or have debates about a topic. That was a fun thing.

Not really a review thread then, is it?

I remember saying when the trailers came out that I thought Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland looked rubbish. I was told that I cannot possibly say that just from a trailer, yet others can say it looks amazing just from a trailer? Erm...

Yeah. It gets annoying after a while. I'm all up for a healthy debate about things, but when people get annoyed because you're saying negative things about their favourite whatever, does get annoying.

I jumped after reading the first 4 pages to the last page, so I don't know what this Twilight stuff is about.

But anyway, @ op : While I don't personally see threads about SI/ suicide songs as constructive, some people might find them comforting. For instance, the lyrics may be able to express feelings that couldn't be put into words. It all depends on where you are in your recovery, I think. A lot of the people commenting in this thread have reached a point in their recovery beyond other members on the forums. For you guys, you see the countless threads in CC as "wallowing in misery" (and honestly I can definitely see what you mean), however, months or years ago, when you weren't as healthy as you are now, would you have written or read similar content as a way of expressing yourself and battling your mental illness?

Basically, I think that such content can be an early, albeit extreme, step to recovery. As you progress through later stages of your recovery, you see how counter-productive it really is. For some, writing about how they feel is cathartic. (Although in my opinion, if you want to recover, write about sunshine, not rain...)

And on another note, I've wanted to post stories in CC that had nothing to do with SH, but it seems the only posts that get recognized are the ones with trigger labels. And they're all the exact same. Maybe I'll get around to writing some fantasy stuff sometime.

@ clare and tiff

it would be evil to touch someone's sacred cow. (/sarcasm)

Then wear the gold hat, if that will move her;
If you can bounce high, bounce for her too,
Till she cry "Lover, gold-hatted, high-bouncing lover,
I must have you!"
