they're never going to sound like they did when richey was in the band, remember he did write most of the songs.

this is the first day of my life
I’m glad I didn’t die before I met you
But now I don’t care I could go anywhere with you
And I’d probably be happy

^^ That's a bit of unfair comparison as James wrote Ocean Spray, not Nicky.

Haha. I feel sorry for Know Your Enemy, it's got some cracking tunes on it and it's totally underrated. It pisses all over Lifeblood.

I absolutely love the manic street preachers!! They really are 4real... Despite what Steve Lamacq thought!

How did i only just find this thread?!? I love, love, love the Manics. Especially the Richey era. I will admit that I was slightly obssessive with him *blushes*. I was supposed to be going to Fflam as well, I was not happy at all when they postponed it, Manics and Placebo, what else could I ask for

No one mentioning Everything must go? (the album)?

Elvis impersonator,
Kevin Carter
Small black flowers that grow in the sky
the girl who wanted to be god
no surface feeling at all

all brilliant songs,
personally from the newer stuff, i know lifeblood was shunned, but i loved "solitude sometimes is" and "cardiff afterlife".

I'd be interesting to know how many of the old manics fans also like
Placebo - without you i'm nothing
placebo - my sweet prince
placebo - you don't care about us.

I love the Manics, they're one of my favourite bands. I think the new album is awesome. I do miss Richey, though. :(

I loooooooove Placebo. But to be fair, I liked them first before I "discovered" The Manics.

I want to be part of your atmosphere.

I don't know if it's their 'best' but Everything Must Go is probably my personal favourite, as the sort of perfect balance between the excesses of their earlier and later albums. A Design For Life sends shivers down my spine - when it came out it seemed so damn... powerful and full of heart. And I love No Surface All Feeling. In fact I haven't listened to it for ages! *Goes to dust off CD even though it's probably all scratched and unplayable*

I know Tanya_B I've been struggling to find any Manics fans especially ones near my age. There used to be loads of forums and sites for their fans a few years ago and now they've all shut down. My parents used to play their music to me when I was like 2 or 3 when GT came out, and I've literally been obsessed ever since. Hardcore :P lmao
And aswell I personally think it's virtually impossible to love them and not obsess over Richey, try as we might. Haha

I was a massive fan in my youth and have recently re-discovered them too. I wouldn't mind the best of DVD with all the old videos as someone seems to have nicked my bootlegs. Must invest sometime. I think msp made me into a better person, not a worse one, as so many people seem to claim.

Yeah thanks LittleBabyNothing, I used to go on that a few years ago, and I've been looking around there again recently. It seems to be one of very few that are still running though. Thanks :D

I really wanna go but this time it's arenas and personally I prefer seeing them in smaller venues like in the most recent tour. I mean I've still supposedly booked tickets (I've not heard anything so I may have to order again) so I'd still love to go :D
