I find the following rule very open to interpretation.
"Please do not make comments that overly push any religious belief (or lack thereof) onto any other members, or make any religious comments that could be offensive to others."
It makes me feel uncomfortable because everyone has different levels of what is offensive. Some find the mere mention of a lack of god to be offensive. I find someone saying they'll pray for me to be offensive. *rolls eyes*
Anyway. I don't believe in angels because I don't believe in a god, devil, heaven or hell. When I was 11 I had some experiences which lead me to realize that not everything told to me was true, and not everything beleived by the majority is true. I decided that I would only "believe" things that were controversial if there was scientific evidence backing a certain truth.
When I went to university and I had to write essays I've always been the type of person that I don't trust everything I read and I might only include specific things if I think the source is a reputable one and multiple sources say the same thing.
I view most supernatural experiences and occurences as highly suspect. I've never seen very concrete evidence for ghosts, angels, god, satan, ufos, big foot, so until someone can document such occurences through a scientifically accepted method I'll probably to continue think it is wild imaginations and human self deception.
Mainly when religious things get tense is when religious extremism is brought into account, like on the discussion about the Baby Bible Bashers documentary.
I believe in God, angels, demons, Satan, the whole nine yards. I'm Christian, but I'm against beating people over the head with it. Religion kills. Period. And being Christian is not about being "religious", but about personal spirituality.
Gosh, I sound like a complete idiot...I sound like a Hallmark card. Anyways, it's hard to explain, that invisible little line between faith and the Inquisition.
basically exactly what i would say. if you ask me about it, i'll tell you but like the quote im not gonna beat you over the head with it. and yeh, i believe in all that
“The good things don’t always soften the bad, but vice-versa, the bad things don’t necessarily spoil the good things and make them unimportant.”
“Nobody important? Blimey, that’s amazing. Do you know, in nine hundred years of time and space I’ve never met anyone who wasn’t important before.”
“If it’s time to go, remember what you’re leaving. Remember the best. My friends have always been the best of me.”
i beleave in angels becouse my sis died in sept and when im not haven nightmares i sometims dream that sheis talken to me nand tellen me she is in heaven and finally peacefull
SIGPIC]And when I'm gone, just carry on, don't mourn
Rejoice every time you hear the sound of my voice
Just know that I'm looking down on you smiling
And I didn't feel a thing, So baby don't feel my pain
Just smile back
if you ever need to talk send me a message at anytime
I don't believe in angels. I used to, but then I realsied that I was basing my belief on nothing apart from what other people said and the need to believe in something... which I don't think is a good enough reason personally.

The problem with all religious discussions and using arguments for and against religion is using instances where religion is used as an excuse or misinterpreted in order to do inhumane things - Holy War and the like. So really, religion isn't to be blamed for anything but how people apply it. Personally, as much of a non-believer as I am, I think it's unfair to bash people's religions as a belief rather than the instances when that religion is misused and turned into a scapegoat. I hope that made sense..
And to answer your question, no I don't believe in "Angels" as such because the term is tied to religious belief which I don't have. I do however believe that some form of imprint or energy is left from the deceased is left when the cease to function as living organisms. This imprint or whatever may manifest itself as the person it once was a part of, maybe. I don't know, nor do I plan on making any decisions on things I know so little about.
believe in angels, when my grandparents died, I went to a reiki session and the woman told me that she could see two elderly people watching over me, and they were holding hands, which my grandparents always did, and that the woman was closer than the man, and I was always closest to my nan. Also my dad is dying of cancer at the moment and I know he will become an angel. I also think that angels can be disguised as humans too, and they come into your lifr just when you need them.
I don't belive in God, or heaven/hell, and I dislike organised religion, but I do like to feel that there's something watching over me. So yes, I think I do believe in angels. For me, they resemble birds. There was a particular time when I was going to kill myself, but there was one flying, and it looked so free, and it kept circling around me...I don't know, I probably sound mad.
But yes. I do. And you can say what you like about it being nonsense and just because I want to believe in some sort of higher purpose, but it kept me killing myself so surely that is a good thing, no?
Sorry if this is garbled and makes no sense.
There are, it has been said, two types of people in the world. There are those who, when presented with a glass that is exactly half full, say: 'This glass is half full'. And then there are those who say: 'This glass is half empty'.
The world belongs, however, to those who can look at the glass and say: 'What's up with this glass? Excuse me? Excuse me? This is my glass? I don't think so. My glass was full! And it was a bigger glass!
No...I can understand that Mikey. Religion can serve a purpose, it can make one stronger and make life meaningful and worthwhile. Sometimes that can be hard to find in this world.
I'm not sure what I believe now, in a religious sense.
But I used to believe that I must have a Guardian Angel. 12 years ago I had a serious major gas leak in my home, but, being severely ill with depression, I ignored the smell of gas for several months, and one night woke up because I was unable to breathe. It was then that I turned off the gas and got it checked, to find there was a major gas leak from my boiler. Right next to a room where I'd been burning candles. I was either very lucky, or my Guardian Angel was watching out for me.
I'd also had a dream a while before this in which an angel saved my life..
I actually like to believe that my friends who have passed away are guardian angels watching over everyone they have left behind. I don't have much of a concept of religion, and even my faith in angels are probably based on the fear that there is no afterlife for my friends/family, however I do strongly believe they are watching over me.
I believe in guardian angels who follow and protect us all the time. they are the little voices that tell us to be careful.
I also believe that I've been helped by them in the past. first time was when i was young. i did some silly childish thing where you jump off the stairs from about halfway up. the second i jumped i knew that i wouldn't be able to clear the last couple of steps. i knew i would land awkwardly and probably hurt myself. weirdly enough when i was heading down toward that last step i felt myself sort of, flying, past it and i landed perfectly on the floor. i was carried much further than the force of my jump should have taken me. all the known laws of physics say i should have landed awkwardly and fallen, but i sailed clear and landed safely.
I also believe in a God and Goddess. like most wiccans. but i don't believe in a devil, there are negative forces out there but is doesn't have shape or a name. to give it those things gives them a power over you.

I shall have to resist the urge to say what i really think but no I don't believe in angels, demons, gods or santa. I only believe in what i can see evidence for. I would also add that most accounts of people who claim to have seen angels tend to be people in a state of ill mental health or heavily medicated. So i would say their word is dubious at best.

Hi Aimee, I like what you wrote there as it's pretty much how I feel too. I'm quite dubious about the afterlife and not really sure what to make of it, however, I do take comfort that with so many experiences that people seem to have with the supernatural that there may be something more but I don't think we're meant to understand what it means in this lifetime, that's why it's best to have an open mind on it as it's all so inconclusive.
Take Care.
