Emma, I think you're the first person who has agreed with me on Sirius, so *high fives back*
HBP is my favourite book, but for quite a few reasons. I felt sorry for my postman though. He came round, knew exactly what it was. Said he'd been up all night doing overtime at the sorting office and that his bag was full of the same package. Ah, memories of speed reading HBP just so I could talk about it. DH didn't have that same feeling.
He's funny, a fantastic wizard, a loyal friend, gone through a lot of sh*t in regards to his family and still come out of it strong and was the father figure Harry needed.
I don't blame him for being a dick. You would be, too, if you grew up in his family :P
Life is about love, last minutes and lost evenings,
About fire in our bellies and furtive little feelings,
And the aching amplitudes that set our needles all a-flickering,
And help us with remembering that the only thing that's left to do is live.
His family isn't a good enough excuse for me. Harry didn't grow up with the best family, but isn't quite as bad. Neville had a pretty rough life but turned out okay.
He was a bit of a tool when he was a teenager (as was James), but I don't think he was when he was looking after Harry. He was framed and imprisoned for 12 years for killing his best friend. Hardly going to make you the sanest person >_>
guy was mentally tortured for about 13 years after learning of his best friends deaths. Deaths that came about after he recommended they swap the secret keeper. So, he may feel he was responsible for those deaths.
No wonder he ended up a little weird. I think he was a great guy considering all that was on his shoulders.

He was an arrogant, stuck up bully. He continued to be throughout his adult life as well.

<3 for you claire.
i just think he came out of nowhere, told harry that he could go live with him (you know build up his hopes and all that ^^) got arrested, saved by a pair of 13 year olds >.< (nice manly moment there for him im sure) sort of appeared again, talked a bit, called harry james and then died.
yes i am aware he probably did more stuff that i cant remember. been a few years since i read 3,4,5 but still thats all i can remember :P
he was a little more impressive in the books than in the films I think.

The sad thing about Harry Potter is that so much of the series is better in fanfiction :P

That is the most painful sum up of third and fifth books I've ever read xD

That doesn't excuse his teenage years. He also didn't really treat Harry as his own person, he wanted a replacement James.

No, no, that's pretty much summed up Sirius' existence! Sirius must have known that he would need to go into hiding, he's not stupid.
I never got in to fanfiction. I'm sure there is a lot of good stuff there (JKR isn't the best writer...), but I could never be bothered trailing through the crap to get to the decent stuff.
