I have been detained more than once and your right its not nice and you feel wronged. But some people feel thats better than leaving themslves open to harm.
I dont think anyone enjoys being held against their will and not being allowed off ward while watching others being allowed out even for just 30 minutes. What are your alternatives to psychiatry?
But in all fairness we can't have unwell people that are commiting crimes just running around not contained. Do you think they should go to prison?
Personally speaking I think my neighbour was pleased in the end [when she had regained insight] that the police took her in and stopped her continuing to run around her street butt naked because she was manic and psychotic. I know I wouldn't want to be left to run starkers in public if I was unwell.
Could you tell me what you think should happen instead of a section for those who are committing crimes whilst acutely unwell?
Yes i have had staff sat outside my room on constant even watching you while on toilet and it doesnt seem right but they are there to care for you its just realising that which is virtually impossible while its happening.
I had my shoulder dislocated during a restraint once. It was not in my best interests, but the person that I was attacking, it was definitely in theirs!
A lot does need to be changed within psychiatry. I'm not anti psychiatry, so sorry if I shouldn't be posting here, but I agree that a lot should be changed.
I'm fine! Totally fine. I don't know why it's coming out all loud and squeaky, 'cause really, I'm fine!
What are your alternatives to psychiatry, just let people do what they like even when they dont know and cant remember what they have done while having a psychotic episode.
I've been detained multiple times, and it is never pleasant, it's scary and everything feels out of control. The things is though that while I may have been unhappy about it at the time I now realise it was for my own good, I would have ended up seriously harming myself or others if they just let me go home. I am not at all a fan of psychiatrists, if fact they make me rather angry but I have a wonderful care coordinator who I trust has my best interests at heart and I am doing much better.
'Cause I'll always remember you the same.
Oh eyes like wild flowers within demons of change ♥
Unfortunately changes take a heck of a long time!
Have you guys ever tried sending complaints to the CQC? (Care quality commission)
Unless people start pointing out the things that are wrong with the services, nothing is going ti change!
I've sent complaints in before. Its very quick and easy :)

Dont you think things are being changed? Its constantly changing , just over the last 30 years things have massively changed in the care for people suffering mental health problems.
AmyShmamy: most of my admissions were not in my best interest, they just found an excuse to detain me in four different hospitals, a lot happened to me in there, I haven't been able to say it was for my own good at all
Cold one, I don't understand how asking what the alternative to psychiatry are flaming? I'm intrigued to know what you would offer as solutions/alternatives.
