The Maudsley

Hi people, apologies once again for not being around. I'm still in hospital, just been allowed out for day leave.
I don't know if anyone remembers, but I was supposed to be being transferred to an adult unit, called Ashleigh House. Well, I was refused funding because I'm apparently not ready to go there. (Probably because I run away and often end up being ng tube fed, and the new unit is unlocked and doesn't do ng tubes). So they've said I may be going to Huntercombe, The Priory, or The Maudsley. They want me to go to the Maudsley. I've never heard of the place and I can't find much information on it, so I was just wondering if any of you had been there and had any experiences? It would be the eating disorders part, and I'd be there as an adult under section 3.

i was in the bethlem which is the maudsley.
all i can say it that they are really nice there and want to help people.

i'm at the bethlem not for ed but for self harm but they are kind of helpign with my ed (binge eating) they are really good

You haven't missed anything from Ashleigh House if its the one in Stroud. (I had a job interview there...hmm...)

The Maudesly is excellent though. Its the leading unit in the country for SI and ED, their example is followed by many psych units as best practice for treating SI and ED patients so you'd be getting great care.

The Priory (if its the Bristol one) helped two good friends of mine make steps towards recovery so I've heard positive things from there too.

There is a girl where I work who has just come from Huntercombe and she has said positive things about her treatment there (for SI). She found it scary at first as she has never been on a locked ward but used the admission really well and said she found it helpful.
