ocd/voices

hiya *waves*

basically, i haven't been diagnosed with ocd, but i've pretty much known for a long time that it's probable that i have it, and i told my psych about the things that i have to do and stuff.

i was just wondering, is it weird that my "ocd" has a voice? she named herself and yells at me that i'm dirty and makes me do weird things.. does anyone else have this?

thanks x x x

I know exactly what you mean. I have OCD, and there is a voice inside my head that seems to be my OCD.

i have ocd without voices, but i have come across (in life and in books / tv documentries) others who do. i think it is a recognised subgroup of ocd sufferers.

OCD is generally a response to your overwhelming thoughts, if something is too hard to deal with it sometimes your brain develops ways of dealing with it. It's problem with the way you process things and you can get better.

Do you also ritualize things? Perhaps, instead of stopping yourself from listening to the voice or performing your ritual gradually increase the time you spend focussing on breathing or distracting yourself from listening to your OCD. Eventually, you'll become bored of going through the long process of waiting before your allowed to perform your ritual or think your thoughts or listen to that voice that you'll find yourself conforming to it less and less.

Be gentle on yourself
