Triggering (ED) - Martyr. [poem]
You’re a martyr to bulimia
Your every move
Scrutinised
Your every thought
Evaluated
Checked and checked again.
Referring back to the original manuscript
The un-written laws that we must abide by,
To falter is to risk punishment
Punishment is redemption
An exorcism if you will.
Onlookers pry
They’re not like us
They don’t understand
This isn’t just an addiction anymore.
This is something you’d give your life for.
A cult in its most persuasive form
You live and breath it, like it is your oxygen.
Logic is impossible, but yet why doubt this superior vision, this influence that en stills your brain so?
Why?
Because you’re a Martyr.
You’re a martyr for bulimia.
But no-one will be praising you afterward.
There will be no god waiting for you at the gates.
There will be no legend, stories to grandchildren, or thanks for your commitment.
There will be nothing.
And in this nothingness.
you'll wonder;
was this really worth it?
