Buying Property Abroad.
I've been thinking a lot recently, and have decided that I would like to buy a property abroad (somewhere in Australia or Italy, I think, most likely Italy) in the next few years.
The thing is, I have no idea how to start researching how to do this, or which companies to go to... it's all rather confusing. Plus, there is the question of the credit crunch... can I really afford to do it, even if I do it in a few years' time?
I'm still not sure of my long term plans but this is one thing I am sure of. I need to get out of the UK, and this is the only way it can happen.
So... what I'm asking is this... does anyone have any experience of buying property abroad? Should I do it now, or wait? And... would it be worth it? I don't want it all to go wrong...

First point of call, real estate agent or bank. You need to have a solid level of income that will have to be consistent. Write a list of what you're looking for, where abouts, how much you're planning to spend. Properties are expensive, even if it's only 150 thousand for an apartment (and that's in tassie. It's a heck of alot more expensive on the mainland). Er.... yeah. Your first port of call your be an estate agent or the bank to find out if it would be possible :)

Okay, thanks for your help.
I've got quite a bit saved up, and I'm not planning to move for a few more years.
Plus there is that points system or something...
Man, it's all confusing.
Well, okay, I better go to an estate agent first.

Ooh... cool!
Haha, I should so move there, then I could come and visit you!
Seriously, though, I really need to think about this. It's going to change so much, if I do it...

Tassie is awesome :) My advice is to look for work before you move though... jobs are scarce everywhere. What do you do???
